Just got this announcement. I'm thinking this is something some folks here are using?

Curcumin is Turmeric's bioactive ingredient. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and a number of therapeutic properties.

This has been a problem with it (and others, too) for years. The supplier / even where it's grown is really important.

Much is grown in countries where lead gas is still used and grown near roads where there can be a lot of exhaust - or in industrial or even waste lands / contaminated soil.

When this was in the news a few years ago, I had just purchased a large canister full of turmeric in bulk. I just called the store and they could tell me the supplier and that, yes, they were on top of it and, no, no problem with mine.

Then I called the supplier and learned more about the growing practices, where they get their turmeric, etc.

Dark chocolate is another food with frequent lead reports. Where it is grown, how it is tended, harvested, shipped . . . it all matters.

Never a good idea to buy any spice, food, supplement from sources not thoroughly researched.

I would say let's go back to green beans and water, but you can't hardly trust those either. [Roll Eyes]

Regarding anything I ingest, this song has taken on a whole new meaning in my life:

I believe the Enhansa product is a curcumin that is carefully grown. Compounded by Lee Silsby Pharmacy.

ktkdommer,

Thanks. Good to know a specific one & that does have an excellent reputation.

It just occurred to me that plants grown near shipping channels (i.e. Panama Canal, etc.) might also be more at risk due to the exhaust from waiting / stalled shipping vessels that is deposited upon the lands.

Cruise liners, too.

Marine problems: Shipping

Sub-standard ships and poor shipping practices are leading to massive marine pollution and damage.
