my dr says I have bronchitis and asthma. he gave me cipro for 10 days and albuterol, two puffs twice a day.
those inhalers are dang expensive.
I cough until I choke. first thing in the morning I cough up green crud.
when I use the inhaler, it gets worse. i start coughing and gasping for air.
I asked him if the inhaler was causing asthma to get worse. he said it opens the airways and if they're damaged or clogged, it will cause coughing until I get used to it.
my sister has asthma but uses some kind of machine. she doesn't choke or cough when using it.
I hate to have another appt but I'm not sleeping. when I lay down, seems like my lungs close or something. I can't get enough air and I feel like I'm going to pass out. the more I struggle, the shorter my breath gets. its a vicious cycle.
I sleep propped up.
my chest is constantly sore and hurts.
I can't afford an er visit.
can lyme cause asthma? will abx cure asthma?

nope. tho I've askedfor diflucan repeatedlyand been told no such thing as yeast.
also asked for xray and that was denied.
I have to have referralfor pulmonologist.

I would return to the doctor or call them again.
No, abx will not cure asthma, but if you have an infection in your bronchial tubes and/or lungs, it will fix that.
You know the dangers of Cipro, right?

My mother went through this exact same thing.
Her pulmonologist gave her steroids after he poo-pooed her asking about fungal infection.
Went for a scan. She has a fungal infection in her sinuses and lungs. After being given steroids, abx, several rounds of both and told it was asthma.
Pulmonologist was very wrong.......
We have seen a lot of cases of fungal infections in sinuses and lungs around here due to how wet and damp it has been in the last 3 years here.
If it's not going away, fungus needs to be seriously considered and looked into.
May be time for another Dr's opinion if yours won't consider it? PM me if you want a name

I don't think an inhaler is supposed to do that. I'm wondering if you are sensitive to something in the inhaler. There are different types.
Can you ask for a nebulizer (you can rent them) with a different medication?
Ditto to what everyone else is saying. Sound like both a chest x-ray and a pulmonologist appt are needed. Is there any chance you have mold exposure?
