Hey all, I literally just started the parsley (10 drops) and burbur pinella (20 drops) per protocol today, one dose of each so far and I'm pretty sure I'm herxing already and that's just detox herbs! I feel like I've been in a car accident and have whiplash. My head hurts a little and just overall kind of icky. But, if the burbur is what I'm supposed to take when I start to herx when I get to day 4 of other herbs how does this even happen? I'm also currently taking a low dose of amoxicillin (Lyme dose wise) for a different infection (tooth not Lyme).

I have just been treating my symptoms for the last couple of years because I crashed hard the last time on abx. But I'm sick of being sick so here I am hoping the Cowden protocol works. But herxing on the detox herbs? Seriously? Thoughts? Thanks!

Well they are herbs to detox and sometimes detox is uncomfortable. The idea is to help you get out some toxins before you start the antimicrobials. If it proves to be too much, you could try them one at a time and take them for longer before you start the big guns.

Oh I'll keep plugging along for now I just didn't expect a reaction so quick. I've always used other methods to detox, not herbs so I didn't realize it would cause a herx.

Now I'm wondering if this is any indication of how bad the herx will be once I start the other herbs. Seems like a lot to start all at once on Day 4.

How long have you been on the amoxy? That could be what's causing the herx.

Only 4 days. I usually don't herx from amox BUT with the detox herbs I'm sure I'm reacting differently. I just really didn't expect it to go from 0-60 but I suppose I should know better almost 10 years in! Ugh!!!

I definitely expected 0-60 on the 4th day when I add in the microbial defense but these detox herbs? Lol. Again, I should know better.

Have you ever taken chelators?

Some chelators may cause even stronger reactions!

I'm much more afraid of loose toxins, by the reactions they cause, than by antimicrobials.

Herxes are loose toxins moving, anyway...

I don't think I've ever taken those.

The parsley is what's kicking my butt. I went ahead and took the burber pinella early since it's what you're supposed to use for a herx and would be my bedtime dose tonight.

The pain isn't as bad as yesterday, still there though. But I'm SO nauseous right now.
