I went to dr because I have been having lower left abdominal pain pretty bad. diagnosed with diverticulitis. he gave me 1500, yes, 1500 of flagyl and augmentin for 10 days.

my gosh, I am sicker than I was before. severe nausea, leg cramps, eye twitching, neck pain. Literally hurt all over. oh yeah, diarrhea. the abdominal pain is much worse.

one positive thing is, am off ativan, aspirin, and elavil. took me several months.

I joined weight watchers and so far have lost ten pounds. it's a start. 100 to go. am walking mile and quarter 4-6 days a week. can now do it without dying!! lol...

I don't know if diverticulitis is getting worse or this is major herx. what do you think?

I am taking 40 billion probiotics.

Are you eating anything with small seeds? My last colonoscopy clean the last thing that the colon released was flax seeds. Tons of them.

I had been having pain in the lower GI. The bread that I had been eating for months had flax seeds.

Whole seeds, not ground. While flax seeds are good for you, little seeds can get caught up in the pockets.

And the test revealed diver in my colon. I quit the whole flax seed bread and have had no pain since.

yeah I really screwed upby eating strawberries!!!

ain't doing anything like that again.

my husband has prostate surgery monday and I have to drive him about 80 miles home. I'm terrified of dfw traffic.

he's going to have a bag for about 1-2 months and home care. we will be using separate bedrooms.

things are so crazy right now. if it ain't one thing it's another.

Randi .. Don't forget that you can't use ANY alcohol when taking flagyl. It will cause severe nausea. That means NO MOUTHWASH!

Flagyl can also cause nerve pain .. so be careful. It's still a better bet than a fluoroquinolone.

I would be sure to take more magnesium right now too .. it is really necessary when taking flagyl.

Good luck to hubby... I hope he does OK .. Be kind to each other!

and .. CONGRATS on doing Weight Watchers!

and yes, you could be herxing .. but it sounds like side effects to me
