After being on DSF for about a month, I have had almost constant air hunger. It is not the gasping I am going to suffocate kind. I can breath deeply and feel satisfied to get the extra oxygen but I never have enough.
I even had dreams about taking deep breaths that were changing me internally.
Does this sound like a Babesia Herx? Can Bartonella or Bb cause air hunger like this? I had it in the past before and while I was treating Babesia but it has been gone for years.

Definitely babesia, and some experience it with Lyme.

Babesia - and Dr. Burrascano described it in the CALDA lecture CD as being very distinct in that you can climb stairs and be ok but you may be sitting at your desk on the phone and be out of breath - so not related to exercise - that seemed exactly right to me - one would expect it due to exertion but the Babs air hunger is not related to exercise at all and you notice it when it is there and you wonder why I remember taking frequent deep sighs when I had it and was wondering what was up with that

Mycoplasma, and many strains of it, is often overlooked in this Lyme & co world. Here is some of the best info I've found on Mycoplasma.

I've always thought that babesia was the culprit with my air hunger or inability to draw a deep breath. It certainly can play a role but with myself I have discovered that a hiatal hernia or just the stomach rising up not necessarily pushing up through anything but even just pushing up against the diaphragm....can cause severe shortness of breath and other vagus nerve symptoms.
Notice if your symptoms get worse when digesting, standing, with gas and bloatedness, or lying down....etc. I would highly recommend reading the book. Hiatial Hernia Syndrome The Mother Of All Illness by Theodore A Barody, ND, PHD, DC

I never knew that hiatal hernia could cause so many sx. My air hunger is intermittently bad but cannot pin down why. With other reflux (and vagus nerve!) sx this is a great lead.

I'm going to order that book. I had a total crash late last year precipitated by a very stressful situation. I suddenly couldn't eat more than a bite without getting full.
Lots of other symptoms came along, but every single one was textbook for hiatal hernia. The weight loss was frightening and the night sweats were worse beyond anything I had ever experienced.
I was worried about things like lymphoma or other severe immune dysfunction. I saw numerous doctors, and given my digestive sx not a single one hinted at hiatal hernia. Mind blowing.

I am having this shortness of breath again. Got bit by a tick again in late spring of 2019. I was reading about Lyme disease and Phrenic nerve palsy. People might want to look that up.I always blamed it on babesia which it still may be or just bloatedness pushing on the diaphragm
