The only thing that works to knock me out is benadryl. I take some an hour before bedtime. It's not natural, tho - it's either OTC or Rx.

I used another all-natural thing to get better sleep, and it was CBD oil. I would not say that it was a panacea for me, but it did help to reduce back pains and anxiety levels. I also started to sleep better and have fewer headaches. Maybe it is because the general level of stress was lowered, and I could sleep and feel better than before. -------------------- It is a stronger substance than just oil because it’s an extract. It is legal in the states, but I should still use it carefully because I am not aware of all the states’ juridical peculiarities on the topic.

Thank you for sharing your natural sleep and anxiety remedies. It's great to see that you have such a wide variety of natural items on hand to help with your wellbeing. I'm impressed! I'm also a fan of natural remedies and have been making fresh juice 4-5 times a week. It's amazing how much better I feel after drinking it. Your juice sounds amazing - I love the combination of ingredients you have! The items mentioned above really have a positive effect on the nervous system and promote deeper sleep.-------------- Keep up the good work, and I hope you continue to find success with your natural remedies.

I took Xanax for 33 years and my GABA receptors have not repaired, despite taking 2 yrs. to get off Xanax, and it has been over 4 years since I got totally off. So...this is what I have to take to get any sleep: (I still wake up to pee every 2 hrs.)
Benadryl 25 mgs. 1 1/2 hrs. before bed and again 6 hrs. later Melatonin 0.3 mgs. 1 1/2 hrs. before bed Clonidine 0.3 mgs. 1 1/2 hrs. before bed and 3 hrs. later, 0.1 mg. 5 hrs. later Verapamil 240 ER 1 1/2 hrs. before bed (for PSVT) Magnesium citrate 177 mgs. 1 1/2 hrs. before bed and 3 hrs. later L-tryptophan 500 mgs. 3 and 5 hrs. after bedtime Inositol 1 gram 3 and 5 hrs. after bedtime Ashwagandha 425 mgs. 1 1/2 hrs. before and 5 hrs. after bedtime L- Glutamine - 2 grams 3 hrs. after bedtime GABA lozenges - 2, 1 1/2 hrs. before bedtime
If anyone else has gone off benzos after taking them for a very long time, maybe some of this will help....

these are all pretty low risk and combined are enough to make a difference to me over time - both in terms of going to sleep and staying asleep, and having good quality sleep - this is huge for me - as my sleep was messed up for years with lyme and bart - and i noticed if i had even one night of good sleep - i would have a much better day the following day.
good sleep hygiene habits are just as important - if not more important than the supplements - like =dark room, =cool room, =limit screen use 2hrs before bed =exposure to daylight 20mins early in the day =some exercise in the day =good sleep routine - same time each day =consistent bedtime ritual-relaxing mind before bed (ie not PC work last thing)
we cant expect gentle natural sleep aids to compensate for poor sleep habits - and all stronger pharmaceutical sleep aids have long term side effects - so i think its advisable to use milder alternatives if at all able.

While I have always had issues sleeping, it has hit an all-time high with 3-4 hours of sleep everu night since October. If I get 4.5 hours I feel amazing.
I have tried everything but cbd. That was my next step.
Anyway my brother sent me a "package" of supplements. One was magnesium threonate which for some reason which make my brain worse.
Another was l-theonine which I haven't taken yet.
Finally the game changer was Apigenin. I get a better sleep and now if I wake up after 3 hours I am able to get back to sleep for 1.5 - 2 hours. I still don't sleep a great length of time but it makes a big difference if I can get back to sleep and get a deeper sleep.
Now I am going to add l-theonine. In a way I am afraid to do this and upset the gains I have made.

Klutzo...that's a powerful stack, consider swapping out the Glutamine for Glycine as Glutamine can be excitatory in some people. Google Glycine for sleep if you haven't already.

I have been looking to find something to help my son whose sleep schedule has been off for years. He has tried many things, including CBD oil specially compounded for him which didn't do anything.
I looked into possibly having him try Hyland's Calms Forte as it got many good reviews. Fyi - he hasn't tried it yet.
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with this product, just trying to get help for my son.
