Just curious... We've been on 500mg Zithromax since starting with this LLMD, nothing else at the moment except the usual supplements.

I seem to be ok with it, but my wife has some uncomfortable side effects. Mostly stomach upset, a tendancy for yeast issues, that sort of thing.

What are common doses for Zith? Is 250 a theraputic dose for early Lyme?

500 mg to 600 mg a day is the right dosage, that is what our Dr. H had us on and is what I am still taking. You can take it all at once or if you have the 250mg pills can space it out. If you read the insert which comes with the medicine you will read that taking this abx with food will greatly increase the absorbtion into the body.

I take mine with a good size meal but away from any milk or caffine products.

Taking this with food will help with the stomach issues.

KH,

Taking it with food to increase absorbtion is good to no. I guess I am guilty of skipping some fine print!

Actually I was doing that anyway to avoid stomach upset... behavior learned from being on Doxy!

Thanks.

Hey James,
GS also gave me 500 mg. a day in 2 doses along with Mepron. Apparently the Mepron is the real killer- I've also had lots of stomach probs. too and I think just about anything I put in my mouth will cause some upset. We all need to meet one day along with Recipegirl and go out to lunch after our appointments! I hope your wife feels better soon!

jo3,

I'm hoping I don't have to do the Mepron. She promised to treat me gently since I have to earn the money, and writing software is kind of hard to do when you are knocked totally brainless with medications. Is the Mepron for a co-infection, or does she use it for Lyme by itself?

We found the unexpected malaria co-infection before going, and it seems to have gone away or at least dormant with a course of artemisinin. That really got rid of alot of brainfog and headaches.

Yes, we should all try to synchronize our appointments some time, we would enjoy that.
We go back friday for all the lab results, should be interesting. My wife is doing much better now, I think she is reassured to be under someone's care and actually taking something for this.

How is the Piracetam working? I'm hoping it is something that can give me a needed boost.

Hey James,
I don't go back until the 21st- my day off I decide to spend driving to and from Austin! My last test score (I think it's CQ57- or something like that!) was a 31-GS said I'd have to stay on treatment until it reaches a good 150! Man, I've already been on meds for 8 months and it doesn't seem like I'm getting much better. She knows that and thinks that I'll probably be one of these people that as soon as I'm off, I'll feel a world of difference! I hope she's right!
She wasn't as gentle with me as she was with you- even though I'm basically the sole bread winner. The Mepron does me in- feels like I'm gonna die sometimes. She thinks all my leg,hip and now back pain is a herx so I'm looking into a pain specialist around here instead of doing more and more tests.
Make sure if you ask her for the Piracetem she gives you Hydergine- that seems to be the clencher! I don't feel as confused and foggy as I did before- and if I do forget something, it usually will come back much sooner. That's good when I'm working with kids- they get me on everything! In fact, I had to stop it since I didn't have anymore and even my students said that I sounded confusing!I'm not reversing or speaking as backwards as before either! It does take a while to kick in though- but we've got plenty of time, don't we?!
