http://www.michigan.gov/mdch

state of michigan dept of community health.

you can call them ask them to fax or email you a county by county count of infections (usually you will get the numbers for 2002 or 2003 - and only CDC positive).

Contact MDCH

General Information
517-373-3740
TDD 517-373-3573

you then can go to the CDC website on Lyme and show the reporter where it states that infection numbers for the year 2002 are estimated to be tenfold underestimated.

you and the reporter can do the dance of juxtaposing junk mathematics from there.

cdc -2000 surveillance map (reported cases by CDC criteria)
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/Lyme_map_2000.htm

"Surveillance of reported cases: Lyme disease is a rapidly emerging vector-borne infectious disease in the United States.

In 2002, 23,763 cases of Lyme disease were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (MMWR 52(31):741-750).

More than 157,000 cases have been reported to health authorities in the U.S. since 1982, when a systematic national surveillance was initiated.

The overall incidence rate of reported cases in the U.S. is approximately 7 per 100,000 population, but there is considerable underreporting" (italics mine)
