Hi All,
I'm on my 2nd round of Mepron/Zithro. First was for 3 weeks, this one is for 4. Couple questions....
does anyone still have the sweats while on it? The chills have stopped but that was a short lived symptom anyways. I'm so hot all the time and have subnorm temp that many of us have.

Sleeping like I've never done before... so tired. The first round was quite different.

Having a fairly significant depression, too. (Can't tolerate antidepressants and have given almost all of then a trial). I read in Burrascano's protocol to not take CoQ10 with Mepron. At first I stopped the 5HTP since I got the two confused so I'm back on that and hopefully that will gently help my serotonin levels.

And, lastly.... I know everyone is different but for those of you on this combo, how long did you do it/did it for?

I'm waiting to begin Flagyl/Ketek again but can't do it all or my poor liver would pack up and move elsewhere, I'm sure.

What we all go through eh? I think we're some of the most courageous people I've ever met - and that included our LLMDs.

Thank you for your input/experience,
StinkBug -- who is kinda liking the taste of the nuclear yellow teaspoon of goo....

Yes stink bug.. you can have the sweats while on the Mepron. Worse sometimes while herxing.

And if you didn't sweat.. you'd have to change your name.

This drug/herx can really make you depressed. Watch for it and KNOW that is what is causing the problem. It will clear up.

As far as how long you can take it.. or should?

One doc said a minimum of 4 months. Some folks have been on it over a year.

We do know that if stopped too soon.. folks often relapse.. and then it is harder to get rid of.

So hang in there.. it WILL get better.

OK?

Hi Stinky!

I had been on mepron-zitrho-art + some other abx for 9 months, then mepron-ketek-art + some other abx for 1 month ( I am here right now).

All my babs symptoms had disappeared or almost close to that with the exception of the night sweats. I am not so sure for how much longer will I take the meppy.

I will have to warn you that my first three months on meppy were a trip to the house of horrors. However I stayed the course and by the end of the third month things really started to change for the better. Looking back this was the turning point on my recovery.

Herxes on mepron are heavy duty stuff, I have been on some very strong protocols and so far the meppy herxes are still on first place. Hands down to 'MEPPY HERXING".

I am there with you about the tasty radioactive yellow paint, when you are on the d..... yeast free diet; the teaspoon of meppy is like dessert. I had mixed it with plain yogurth isn't bad at all.

Stay the course, things get better.

Thanks Lymster,
Just woke up from a nightmare... sort of a Mad Max fire throwing modified heap, loaded with insane headcases, chasing others in similarly weird vehicles.... then it turned and came right at me.

Not unlike being at Burning Man with Thunderdome happening and the flame throwing cars that scared the stuffin' out of me.

Now, if that reference is too obscure... maybe just the Mad Max one will be enough of an image.

I have tickets to Burning Man again this year. Really want to go but don't think I can hack all the stimulation. Although the isolation in my home now (in the country with only the occasional UPS guy in shorts to brighten my days) is getting dreary.

Can't thank you all enough. Been on the Net since before html, the bbs days, and never have found a group like this one.

Thanks,
StinkBug.... who's not quite sure about the "Stinky" for short form... humph!

Stinky,

Sweating for me started only after starting mepron. All the malarial symptoms of babs started after I started mepron/zith. As if it stirred up the bugs for me or something.

I am still trying to figure out if I can handle that stuff. Both are super powerful. Had me in my first ambulance 911 visit to ER from work. The dizzies were the worst part for me.

I have recent posts and replies about mepron/zith herxing. Look for posts under my name and you may learn some more.

Hope you can hang till it gets better!

Hi Trails,
Thanks for the heads up! I seem to miss some important posts. I think of you often and will go read up so that I'm more aware of what it was like for you.

So far, just depression, nightmares/horrid imagery and soooo tired. Slept most of the last few days - nothing dangerous.

Decided to stop the Zoloft after just a few days since it seemed to make everything all the worse and our livers need some lovin'.

Here's to your own liver lovin', thanks for writing,

Hi Stinkbug,

I am a sweaty mess also. Very lathargic and I feel and look fat even though I've lost 4 lbs in less than 8 days.

I just eat to take my meds. Sorry, DO NOT LIKE THE TASTE. EEEWWW. What's wrong with you?!!!!!!!

I've got the air conditioner blasting. It's 90 degrees outside.

Just waiting for the killer herx. My start date was 5/24 8 days ago. Still nothing.

The weight thing and loss of appetite is a big deal for me. Cuz I'm a eater! Love food desserts everything but bananas.

That's ok. If I lose 50lbs I'll still be ok.

H

PS Sweating my #@@ off!

Hey stinky bug and others!

I belong to another on-line group and this v. nice woman there, who does TONS of research stuff, pulled these old threads about herxing and mepron/zith herxing. You all may find them as interesting as I did!

Dear DolphinLady,
Please forgive my mistake. I went back and checked the Burrascano protocol and I was mistaken. It was not 5HTP that was listed to avoid while taking Mepron but CoQ10. Why that is not allowed, I don't know but it's in bold and a pharmacist may know the answer (or a resident smart person on this board).

Forgive any confusion, I will edit my original post now to correct that.
Best,
StinkBug
