Sounds sort of babesiatic. (I made up a word.)
Why did you decide to use both labs? Let us know the results. I just sent my 19 year old son's test kit to Igenex.

Heather, You could copy the symptom list from the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation, and have her review it. http://www.canlyme.com/ (click on symptoms)
When I look at her symptoms, this is what I see.
Sleeps 14 hours a day or more -- chronic fatigue? Common Lyme symptom.
Takes Synthroid -- thyroid problems are a common Lyme problem.
Lose balance, sometimes fall -- dizziness and vertigo can be Lyme symptoms
Poor memory, can't retrieve words -- Yes! Common Lyme symptoms
Can't see as good as before, need new glasses but got new ones less than a year ago. Frequent vision changes and eyeglass prescriptions are a Lyme symptom.
Headache over right eye, severe but leaves after a few minutes -- Severe intermittant headaches might be Lyme symptom.
Can't hear as good as I used to. Some noises bother me -- Might be Lyme symptom.
Alternate diarrhea with constipation -- yes, a Lyme symptom. (Of course, this can be symptom of other things also.)
I don't know how to evaluate the bloodwork problems, but Babesia does invade the red blood cells, and possibley the bone marrow. This needs further investigation.
Being pale would be from the anemia. There is something called "anemia of chronic illness."
I have a relative who got iron infusions, and she had many more than two. Someone needs to check on this, because if they helped your mother, she should be able to get more of them.
See what she thinks of the Lyme symptom list. Carol

Moning Heather-
Some things sound like lyme. Others sound like my glutin intolerence, the anemia and the digestive issues.
I have been asking why about the anemia for years, with no good explanation until my current llmd thought about it. My gluten anti-bodies are in the noraml range, but my general heath has greatly improved by eliminating wheat from my diet.
I could never rid my body of lyme until my anemia was better. Our bodies need oxygen to heal and anemic blood doesn't carry much oxygen. I still have no iron reserves, but my energy level is way up.
Please look into this as well. Woman, over 40 and blood type O are most prone to glutin intolerance, so says my llmd.

Babesia can cause the loss of appetite and anemia. Was she checked for this too??
I'm really sorry she is ill. Much of it sounds like possible Lyme.
Don't forget....the tests are pretty lousy....especially the co-infection testing. Where does she live?

She is in California now.
But she lived in a high risk area in NJ near the Delaware River.
She has been sick for a while.
The only thing is she doesn't really complain about pain.

Heather, I'm really sorry to hear about your Mom. How old is she? I'm asking, because I've noticed some of those symptoms with my own mother...
Not the same constellation, though.
I'm just glad she and her doc are willing to get the tests done.
The results will give everyone a starting point.

Huntington Beach. She is 56. I have given her the symptom list and the website for the California website.
She didn't have an "ah ha moment" like I did when I saw the Lyme symptoms checklist.
She's just going to do the testing becuase of me and becuase Doctors still havent found the problem.
I think It sounds like advanced Lyme and Babs.

Heather,
I had that "ah ha!" moment when I saw the Lyme symptom list, too.
After I looked at the list, suddenly everything seemed to make sense -- all those doctors' appointments and all those tests.
If I hadn't tested positive I think I still would have been convinced I had this disease.
Glad the tests confirmed it, though, and I hope your Mom is willing to see an LLMD.
