Has anyone experienced their jaw involuntarily jerk shut during sleep? I highly doubt this is a symptom of Lyme and am wondering if I have something else. This is freaking me out completely.

Well, I don't know if this counts as being close to what you have, but for the past 2 months, my jaw gets some kind of apoplexy when I am talking, and I bite my tongue, way in the back. No sooner does my tongue start to heal up than it happens again. Like you, it is starting to freak me out a bit because I can't control it.

Yes, me too. My jaw will suddenly jerk shut and also sometimes feels like it's going to lock.
I have lyme but also last month the ENT doctor diagnosed TMJ syndrome, based mainly on the pain I feel in teeth, ear and jaw and aching in the muscles when I eat. This jerk has been happening since all these problems started so maybe you could get this checked out.
There are treatments for it but they are not always successful, many people with lyme have TMJ problems caused by the bacteria, hopefully treatment with antibiotics will resolve this.
I would love to hear from anyone who has had these problems improve with abx.
