Hi All,

OK....all this waiting and finally they are here....and they are of course, CONFUSING. I feel like I still do not have an answer. Here they are:

both Genomic and Plasmid PCRs are negative

WB IgM: 30 +
**31 +++
**34 IND
**39 IND
**41 IND
66 +

all other bands are negative . Igenex considers this a negative IGM.

WB IgG: **23-25 ++
28 +
**31 ++
**34 IND
**39 IND
**41 +

All other bands negative. Igenex considers this a positive IgG. CDC considers it negative.

ANYONE????? Help...

Regards,
Heidi

The CDC criteria are not meant to be diagnostic criteria. Their criteria are meant to be used for case tracking, and are more restrictive than diagnostic criteria (besides being based on outdated and limited data). They simply do not apply here. So you can safely ignore them. They are not treating you, your doctor is.

Your IgG results are positive, period. I hope you have a good LLMD who understands this, and who can give you a clinical diagnosis.

Now go take care of yourself!

Hugs,
Dayle Ann

YUP.
Read this thoroughly:

Western Blot explanation:
http://tinyurl.com/ffn3x

from the above link:

"Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.

But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.

Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result."

and...."The significant antibodies, in my opinion, are the 18, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 39, 58, 66 and 93.

It's important to know that screening tests like the EIA, ELISA, IFA and PCR can be negative even when the Western blot (confirmatory test) is positive."
