Sorry about the graphic nature of this but I have had severe nausea for a week accompanied by cramping in my gut and whitish mucus in stool.

Any thoughts about what it is and what to do?

I have been on orals for 8 months, IV for about 3 weekss now. Energy much better but nausea killin me (this has happened before I started treatment so I think it may be a herx symptom)

This problem cycles with my pain cycle.

Thanks for any guidance here.
Kim

I don't know too much about this but could it be C. Diff? I think the cramping and mucus are symptoms. I hope you get better responses, and I would check with the doc, pronto.

Hey Human

You should really get this checked out. It could be an infection & then again I have heard mucus can also be a sign of yeast too.

Do you have the runs with it also? Sorry to ask such a personal question.

Hope you can feel better soon

Thanks Sojo and Dana,
I don't think it is C diff cause the stools are very firm/clay like. No diarhea at all-more on the other side.

I am thinking yeast cause my mouth is kinda sticky and gooey. (Sorry guys)

I am taking a theralac and at least a half dozen other probiotics. So nobody thinks this is realated to a herx-since it coinsides with my lyme symptoms?

Maybe the yeast cycles like Bb?

I would pound down as many pro-biotics as posible right now and give your doc a ring.

I love the pro-biotic perals I've been taking. They are supposed to survive the stomach acid & be released in the intestines. Very inexspensive at vitacost.

You may want to ask about adding nystatin? Which doesn't impact the liver / are you still on the rocphen?

The only other thing I can suggest is try to stay as strict on the anti-yeast diet as possible.

I have noticed while herxing, I think my immune system is working so hard to get rid of the toxins - this is when I have noticed the most problems with yeast.

Good luck & Blessings,
dana

Since you've been on IV for 3 wks it could be a herx. Is this a new problem?

I vote for more probiotics as well....and Nystatin. That's a prescription.

Diet?? No sugar??

C Diff doesn't have to be mucus with blood - it can be just mucus.
I had both mucus and small amount of blood.

It could be yeast as well.

I'm not sure nor have I ever heard of it being a herx.

Talk with your Doc.

Kim,
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) definitely causes mucus in your stool and abdominal cramping. Of course the causes of IBS are multiple (leaky gut, food allergies, etc) and 75% of folks with Fibromyalgia also have IBS.

That is one potential cause of your problem. Ask your doc about IBS.

A correction: Herxing does not cause me directly to have yeast problems.

While herxing my immune system is working double time to clear the toxins and kill the enemy. I just don't think it can keep up fighting off the yeast.

herxing is not a direct cause of cause my yeast problems-but indirectly impacts it.

*This is just a personal theory from my experiences.

p.s. Ask your doc first- nystatin doesn't impact the liver like diflucan & I think you can take it with rocephin

Please check this out with your doctor!

Abdominal pain/cramping, nausea, and pus in the stool (which can look a lot like mucous) can be signs of liver trouble -- a true risk after months on abx.

A few other warning signs of drug-induced hepatitis -- clay colored/light stools, itchiness, fatigue, muscle or joint aches (yes, I know we *all* have those all the time), dark urine, low grade fever, jaundice --- some folks have only a few of these, though.

Please call your doc and have this checked out!

According to my Great Smokies Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis report:

quote:
The presence of mucus or pus can be an indication of irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal wall inflammation caused by infection, diverticulitis, or intestinal abscess.

Thanks guys,
I think it is an intestinal infection. I had an upper and lower GI scan all ws okay and the GI doc said it was IBS...

So I am thinking it is Bb in the gut. I will also call him. What is wierd is how all my symptoms are flaring too.

Hey human

Sorry to hear about the flare. Maybe this is a good sign that the tx is hitting bb. I do empathize in that its very hard to herx & get past the symptoms flaring [Frown]

glad you are calling your doc.

I heard from other post's that taking pepto bismal may have some effect in helping to kill bb in the gut. You may want to run this by your doc too.

I take 2 pepto tabs at night one week a month. And do notice a die off pattern.

Hope you can feel better soon.
