During my LLMD visit today, the hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis came up, but we covered so many complex subjects that we didn't get into it in great detail this time.

Until my next visit, I wanted to do some homework on my own, and am overwhelmed by what I'm finding online. It's a lot of very sophisticated subject matter, and I'm not sure where to start.

Does anyone here have any insight into the connection between the functioning (or malfunctioning) of the 'axis' and its relationship to lyme?

Thanks,

monkeyshines

This may not help you at all, but from what I've read, the HPA axis functioning is definitely disrupted by lyme. Actually, any kind of chronic pain can disrupt it -- two things that often happen are thyroid dysfuncion and adrenal exhaustion -- HTH -- the experts should be along shortly....

Research phosphatidyl serine.

Specific dosage and timing are very important which you will discover in the research.

It corrects the balance if cortisol is either way (high or low).

NOW (Brand name) makes 100mg that comes with Ginkgo...a good thing.

To explain why the HPA axis is off would take me a long time...the interplay of the defense mechanisms is very complex.

A does not lead to B...

A leads to B and C and D and E.

The nutrients have multiple functions which really complicates the picture.

Thanks minimonkey and Marnie.

I'll check with my LLM about the phosphatidyl serine, but it sounds like something worth adding.
