I was on 300 mg...and I did have sun sensitivity. I am assuming that you meant doxy for doxycycline, not doryx...which is what you typed.

I believe doryx is just the brand name of the generic doxycycline. So doryx=doxy.
Sun sensitivity has been a problem at 400mgs for my husband. He's been fried more than once and now he's on mino instead (kicking his butt by the way).

Doryx is time released so it's a little different from generic doxy. I hope you didn't start out at 400 mg. That's a really high dose to start out at.

Well I'll be, there IS such a thing as a doryx!
I will say that the 300 mg dose that I was on did give me a severe CNS herx. Typing was hard, I felt quite off balance, I felt like I was going to drop things and I was quite ill...for 3 days.
Hope you feel better soon.

I found Doryx tolerable and cannot take regular generic doxy at all, both capsules and tablets are impoossible for me.
Timed released made a huge difference. It was many years ago and I was only on 200mgs trying to use it for maintenance and it didn't hold me.
I have had no sun issues (other than it seeming too bright) on Doxy or Tetra. If you have been sun sensitive before on Doxy I would go with the assumption that this will be the same. Better to be over cautious about burning than to get a bad burn. If you don't know i'd err on the side of caution, as well.
....just my thoughts and no medical anything behind them. Good Luck I hope the Doryx works for you.

Polar, is your dr trying to kill you, or he just doesn't like you??
Most people begin a little more slowly....unless you just got bit and need to attack immediately... and I know that's not the case with you.

Eric,
Just curious whether your Lyme doctor selected Doryx/Doxy for Lyme or Bartonella or both? If I recall correctly, you're going through a tough case of Bartonella like I am.
I'm on Rifampin for Bart, but am reading more and more about the use of Doxy as part of the Bart regimen. Doxy was my first Lyme medication and helped immensely. But I burned all over my face, neck and hands from the sun sensitivity - be careful.

I've been on Doxy 400mg also for a week. I'm having chills and fever. I can barely walk across the room without being out of breath. I wish I had remembered to start out slowly and increase gradually.

Hi Polar Blast,
I was on doryx too.
Too bad I'm in a Lyme fog. Can't recall much about it.
Anyway at least you know it is something a LLMD uses.

my son takes this, he has to be careful in the sun. He switched to Doryx after IV doxy, and is feeling really well.
