Hello,

If you've read my other post you might know why I'm asking. Has anyone ever repeated a course of Rocephin? I initially did it five years ago for 17 months. I think my LLMD may want to put me back on, and I'm wondering if anyone else has ever done this before.

I also had colitis recently and wonder if anyone else has had an issue with Rocephin and colitis.

Thanks in advance,

- Andrew

Yup, repeated Rocephin a year after my first round of it. The second time really helped a lot. But, I had to stop because my superior vena cava collapsed. So, I only did 16 weeks the second time. Wish I could have done longer.

Andrew,
Do you have a doctor? If not, I'm also in northern California and may be able to help.

There has to be more people on here who've had a second course of Rocephin. Anyone else???

David - yes, I have a doctor here in N. CA - will be seeing him this week.

Had 2 Picc Lines and rounds of rocephin in the first year of treatment. It was helpful but had to stop it due to elevated liver enzymes.

Andrew,

I am about 8 weeks into a second round of Rocephin. Did the first round about 2.5 years ago - 6 months at 2 g, 5 days a week. This time I'm at 4 g, 7 days a week.

Almost three weeks ago, I developed some really bad gut issues I've never had before, i.e., diarrhea about 8 times daily and lots of pain or discomfort. My LLMD says my GI system is very inflamed.

This all started right after I had begun a 10-day course of Rifaxim and has continued through 10 days of Vancomyn and now a course of Albendazol (my LLMD is treating me for parasites as well as Lyme). I thought the first two drugs were supposed to treat gut issues, not cause them.

I'm on Saccharomyces boulardii as well as rotating three different brands of hi-quality probiotics throughout the day.

I don't know what's going on, whether this is colitis or inflammatory bowel disease, or some type of herx. I guess it could be Rocephin-related, but it seems too coincidental that it started the same time I started the orals. I'm having an ultrasound of my abdomen next week just to be sure there's no obstruction.

In general, I'm having a much tougher time on this round of Rocephin. It could be because my LLMD is treating for parasites too, or the disease load has grown since the first time. Or the higher dose. I just don't know.

Started lyme treatment 9 months ago with 5 month rocephin, now on Ketek/bicillin/mepron until early october but LLMD wants to do another round of rocephin with Tinidazole at the start of October 07.

As Rocephin pushes motile spiro's in to cyst form he wants to ensure tini is given as a cyst buster as well (but wont give tini/flagyl in the beginning as spiro load is too high)
