I've been in treatment for 7 weeks now. I spoke with my doctor yesterday who seemed to think I should be feeling better than I am.

I have had some improvement but am still housebound.

He's adding Omnicef to the mix.

He's also having me test for babesia through Igenex to give more proof to the insurance co. that I might need Mepron.

How long before you all noticed a big difference?

I've been really sick for over one year.

Thanks!

I saw some difference right away ... went from 15% of normal to 25% of normal, so still wasn't functional. I improved a little each month. Didn't feel significantly better for at least 9 months.

Now, after 18 months of treatment, I'm about 90% and have about three days per month that I feel bad.

I never had a positive babs test, and my insurance has been paying for Mepron.

Hi sixgoofkids,

Thanks for replying. That's very encouraging. That's fantastic that you're at 90%.

I think I've had about 15% improvement so far.

Hmm. I wonder if my insurance would pay for Mepron without the babesia test. I can't really afford to throw away $195 right now.

I've been doing herbal treatment for babs and many of my symptoms have resolved (heart palps, dizziness though that comes back at times, shortness of breat).

I just want to make sure I'm on the right track.

My body is feeling toxic so I've been reading posts about detoxing.

My fingers and toes feel swollen.

Hi Celtic -

Alot depends on how long you have been sick for
and the co infections that you have --

But even some real sick people can have
show improvement Quickly--Not usually tho-

Once I Added Babs treatment -
I felt better perty fast -
but I was so sick that I had No where to
go but Better or dead --

Babs can be treated with Bactrim DS
it work perty good and is Cheap -
will cause a herx from Hello tho

Tonic Water that you get at the grocery store
has a small amount of Quinine in it
Drinking 1 or 2 liters aday Helped me Alot-
Cheap -- get the diet kind -

Also you want to Add Artimisinin to treatment-
it helps alot -By OnLine

You can get Mepron for Free from

Google --- Bridges to Access --

Its not hard to Qualify --
Your Doctor HAS to make One phone call
takes less then 5 minutes -

Your Doctor also has to write 2 scripts
for the mepron - You get it for a year -

Mepron works perty good

I would not spend the money for babs test
If your doc thinks you have it
you most likely do

Babs is Very Common -
from what I have seen about 70%
of people with Lyme have Babs Also - Jay-

Hi Jay-

Thanks for your reply. It was really helpful.

I have to say I'm having some doubts about my doctor.

I was concerned at how confused he seemed yesterday about what to do next with me.

I kept having to ask him what he was thinking.

This is all so confusing.

Celtic,

Just curious, are you seeing a DR in Northern Cali?

What insurance do you have? maybe someone can tell you if they have the same insurance and it is covered or not. Also, you can call them to ask before you fork out the money for the babs test.

My Dr gave me a babs herbal too(makes me think we have the same Dr). I had some improvement as well. I did mepron for 6 months and had a LOT of improvement.

I have Blue Cross and they cover Mepron.

I was on my first course of antibiotics for 7 weeks, but it was only 200mg of Doxycyline, which wasn't enough, so I didn't get any better from the Doxy due to the dose. Then I was on Tetracycline for 3 weeks, but I was allergic to it. Then I was on Biaxin & Ceftin for 4 weeks and I got better. That was December. Unfortunately, I just had a relapse and now I've been on Biaxin & Ceftin for 5 more weeks and I'm still sick. It's a really frustrating disease since there's days when you feel great, and then horrible days. And I was pretty sure I caught it within 1 week of getting bit, but now I've been dealing with it almost a year. Ugh.

blinkie-i think we have the same doctor. I emailed them to see if they would go ahead and prescribe mepron rather than doing the igenex test.

Since running out of the herbal tincture 8 days ago, my dizziness and other symptoms are now just starting to come back.

pepper8-I had no idea lyme was like this. I think I'm on too low a dose of the antibiotic I'm on. I was on a higher dose but started to get horribly anxious due to mood herxing.

We'll see what happens with the Omnicef.
