My daughter has a problem with sugar cravings and yeast. She is on diflucan and nystatin. Now both her LLMD & her naturopath have given us prescriptions for presevative-free Nystatin. It has to be filled at a compounding pharmacy and will cost around $60, as compared to our $5 co pay for regular Nystatin.

Is anyone familiar with the benefits of preservative free? Is it worth the extra expenses? Like most of you, we are counting our pennies, but we'll do it if it's necessary.

My experience is that the Docs suggest everything that might possibly help and sometimes it's a hard call financially.

Thanks,
Marla

Hi Marla

If the Nystatin is in Powder form
it is 10X more effective than pill form -

One thing about the Nystatin powder
is that it HAS to be kept refrigerated --

Make SURE that the pharmacy knows this when
you order it--

If it gets warm it will be ruined -

If the pharmacy hands you a bottle that is not
cold tell them that you dont want it -

Powder form is more expensive but is worth it-

Hope this helps--Jay--

Actually, she has been taking liquid Nystatin, but we have not been refrigerating it.

I take the compounded Nystatin from Clark's Pharmacy and it works well. I notice a difference in my candida symptoms when I take it regularly.

The liquid is what my LLMD called in for me.

The only thing is, I haven't noticed a difference in sugar cravings at all.
