Has anyone out there had increased anxiety with Mepron treatment. I have had lyme disease for 4 years and was just diagnosed with babesia 2 months ago. I started Mepron and am taking 3tsp daily. I have had some slight anxiety in the past however, now it seems to have gotten much worse. Is this Lyme disease or is this just part of the babesia treatment issues? Any ideas.

Three tsp sounds like a lot to start with. My daughter started at two tsp daily, she got severe depression and had hallucinations.

You may want to call your doc and ask if you can cut back and work up to full dose.

Hi Katrina,

I had that happen to me. It started with anxiety and then came depression. I ultimately had to stop taking it.

Did you start out at that dosage. I think it is usually started out slow and then you increase it.

I just had this problem a couple of weeks ago. If you search Mepron or Mepron buddies on this forum you will come up with alot of posts about it.

However, some people were able to continue taking it in spite of the side effects and have had really good outcomes.

Hope your feeling better soon...kit

I just started 2tsp a day and so far I've noticed a lack of appetite. I'm also very sad...not sure if it's depression or not, but I'm just upset about the Lyme in general, and the possible weight gain from having to eat fat with the medicine so it will work.

I just started one month ago with a smaller dosage and then increased over the month. Yesterday I started on 4tsp daily. I am also noticing arrthymias (skipped heart beats). Who knows I'm just trying my best to tolerate everything so I can kick this disease.
