My LLMD recommends Culturelle because it successfully passes through the stomach without it all being killed by stomach acid.
He also recommends BiffidoBiotics.

My LLMD has me on Theralac and Ultra Flora.
He had me take VSL#3 when I was having a lot of GI symptoms. Now I use that as needed ... at first that meant every other day, then twice per week, now probably once or twice per month. I can clearly tell when I need it.

VSL#3 is the best based on the reports I've read. My opinion is that people with debilitating G.I. symptoms or yeast use the packets, and then once the problem resolves or settles, switch to the VSL#3 capsules, using one per day. The cost of using 1 per day is 22 dollars per month. That gives you 112 billion per day in one dose, taken far away from antibiotics.
There are other good brands. The ones mentioned here are all good, but the VSL#3 is the most potent. The strains are important, but once you get past 5-10, it doesn't matter, because they're including the strains that we know work. Additional strains are supportive and may help too, but it's not critical, given we've seen such exceptional results with the VSL as is.
I do think switching over to a more affordable arrangment is important after you've gotten the G.I. problems under control. For those with strong yeast issues, I recommend the GSE from Nutribiotics, then the VSL#3. That resolves most people's symptoms quickly.
Theralac is recommended by a lot of G.I. specialists and LLMD's, and is good. Culturella is also recommended. Other brands include Jarrow Formula, Ultra Flora Source, NSI. All are reasonable at keeping G.I. symptoms at bay with antibiotic use and may be more cost friendly if the VSL#3 capsules feel too pricey.
22 dollars per month is expensive in my opinion for one single supplement in our extremely large arsenals, but it can be well worth it for some.

What others have a large portion of people had positive results with? I usually base my purchase off what a majority of people have had success with. It usually works.
It's a bit like shopping for cars and realizing -- hey....everyone loves Honda Accords, so.. I bought one and yup, sure enough, it was perfect for what I needed.
If it doesn't work, I move onto the next best!

I am currently using Metagenics' Ultra Flora capsules, and have had no yeast problems or side effects. For me, a big benefit of taking the Ultra Flora is that I can buy it at a local doctor's office, and don't have to worry about the capsules not being refrigerated in transit.
I am considering alternating the Ultra Flora with Theralac, to get variety and for more prevention.
If I were to order Theralac, would it be risky to have it sent during the summer when it could be subject to very high temperatures for several days?
Thanks, Erica

We take Theralac, Culturelle and the Jarrow formula. Not all at once, but we rotate them.
When needed, and you know when you need it, we take Theralac to quickly nip the problems in the bud.
Most days I take 1 Theralac and either 1 Culturelle or 1 of the Darrow. My family seems to be able to get by on fewer per day.

What is Theralac? Probiotics such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are beneficial bacteria that colonize the human intestinal tract.
Species of Bifidobacteria colonize the large intestine while Lactobacillus species colonize the small intestine.
Theralac is a new, highly effective probiotic that replenishes these beneficial bacteria with 20 billion CFU of five new generation probiotic strains. Theralac probiotic supplements promote a healthy soft-lining (wall) in the intestinal tract which results in improved digestion, regularity and nutrient absorption.
Theralac probiotics are the most effective probiotic supplements because their patented acid-proof formulation protects the sensitive probiotic bacteria as they pass through the acidic stomach; this allows them to enter the intestinal tract unharmed at full strength.
Once in the intestinal tract, Theralac's five probiotics are stimulated into action by its two prebiotics (LactoStim and Lactoferrin -- patent pending) to give you maximum probiotic benefit. It's called 5 + 2 Biotherapy and is only available in Theralac.
Theralac's 20 billion CFU/capsule are guaranteed through expiration. Theralac is a probiotic supplement that truly works!
