Hi,
When I saw my LLMD he said he didn't think LabCorp was doing CD 57's anymore.
He said he suspects that someone/insurance company told them not to run them anymore because it was such a good marker for lyme and chronic lyme...and we know they don't want evidence that could force an insurance co to pay!
I tried to get one ordered by another Dr before I ever saw my LLMD and I was told LabCorp didn't have the capability to run them!
I am sure they used to run them....anyone know what happened for sure?
Anyone here still getting CD 57's done somewhere?

I had one ran in Sep-08 at a LabCorp facility. No issues at all. Perhaps they differ by state? I can't say they would run it now though. I know who your doc is as the blog said this.
I wish other LLMDs had such faith in that test. Many couldn't care less and think it's not an accurate marker.
Oh and regarding insurance companies: take a close look at their Lyme guidelines (especially Aetna). They say the CD-57 is not a credible test for Lyme. What a shock huh?

hi seekhelp,
Well, I'm glad you were able to get one done in Sept.
It's all soooo frustrating isn't it?

Hi Amanda,
It really must be a regional problem then. Thanks!

I got the results for my CD57 a week ago. I took about 4 weeks to get the result, and apparently the testing was performed in North Carolina ... (Im in CO)
Very strange.

I had the lab corp test in October. According to Lab Corp my CD57 is normal. According to Dr. R of Missouri it is low. That I don't understand. But she cancelled my phone conference follow up once I decided not to do treatment with her, so I never got an explanation of any of the tests I had run there.
Personally I do not necessarily think the CD57 is a good measure of illness or how one feels, but I am not here to stat an arguement just to say that I had the blood drawn in MO.

Thanks Brainspud, that's interesting! Sounds like they don't want to admit that the result actually means something important.
