Hi ALL --
I am going to try this again -- Please dont move to different form for a few days--
Last Tuesday March 10th I did the FOOL Moon Bicycle ride here in Austin-
This was the Hardest ride I have Ever Done --Seriously --
About 400 riders showed up - The sky was Very Cloudy - Could not see the moon at all-- Dark--
After a mile or 2 of Fun riding the Leader took us up a HUGE HILL --
4 riders Snapped there chains on there bikes on this hill --
One of the Snapped chains was on my Room mates bike --OucH --
So I stopped to help him and went from the front of the pack to Dead Last ---
By the time we figured there was nothing I could do to help-
I took off to Find the Pack -- No Luck -- OucH --
ALL the bikes had those little blinky lights-- I could not see Even One --
So after riding about 4 Hilly miles in the Wrong directions
I Finally Found at the Half Way Rest Stop ---AAAhhhh -----
I thought ALL was Good now --I was Wrong --
Once we left the rest stop we Instantly went UP and Down 4 More HUGE hills --
The last Down Hill was Straight Down -- --Seriously --
In One mile we dropped the hight of a 50 story building--
Was buy far the Fastest I have Ever gone on a Bicycle --65 or so -
It was Scary and Dark --
Bikes had Smoke coming from there Brakes-- Lots of it --
Finally I got going so Fast that there was No Way my breaks would stop me or Even Slow me down -
I just Let Go of the breaks and Just Went For It -
--WOW--
I saw 10 bike chains break and about 12 tires Blow out during the ride --
about 75 riders completed the ride -- There was a Keg for those that made it to the end --
I drank the 3rd beer that I have had in 5 years -
I figure I rode about 35 to 40 miles that night --I got home about 4 AM -
30 minutes later the Temperature dropped 30 degrees in 15 minutes 71 to 40 -- as a storm blew threw --
Lucky we made it home when we did --
Its perty much rained for the next few days--
the day after the ride I mostly laid in bed All day -
The ride was 5 days ago and I am Still Pooped Out --
Today I walked about 3 miles and it was hard to do--
Im that tired --- OucH --- I did not get Sore at All --YEA -- Just Pooped out--
So WHY am I telling you about this ride????
20 years ago I got bit by a tick and got both Lyme and Babs-
I was about as Sick as a person can be and still be Alive--
Now after 4 Long Years of treatment I Feel Great --
Treatment was Painful- Long and Looking to be Endless --
Now am able to Finish this ride that 300 other people could not make --
Most were half my age also --
If I CAN GET WELL Again---
---- SO CAN YOU --Jay--

Yea for you!!! What a wonderful accomplishment!
What does "FOOL Moon" mean, btw? Just curious...
My sister lives in Austin. I went to visit her once about 15 years ago. It was just about the coolest city I have ever been to. Lots of outdoor stuff to do and tons of friendly dogs.

Groovy--
I just got off the phone with one of my friends, Rick Del Castillo, who, as you know, is one of the guitar virtuosos in the Austin band, Del Castillo. I told him about you and others in the Texas area who have battled lyme. He and the entire band have been really supportive of my fight to get well. I hung up the phone with him only fifteen minutes ago and now I'm reading your wonderful post...
I could not be happier for you.....I know it must feel wonderful to be free......

Way to go Jay. It takes work. It certainly doesn't get handed to any of us.
I too am accomplishing something at the YMCA. It's certainly not your story of great heavy duty bike riding but it's improvment and reason for hope.
I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this encouraging story.

just when I was was feeling REALLY down Jay...you lifted me up...a little. I want to get back on my mountain bike and ride like I had done for years. I don't think I rode maybe once or twice last year, that's it......maybe this year if my heart doesn't explode first.
