OK I know many of you may be sick of this question and there may already be a post somewhere answering this for me but.... Since my LLMD does not give advice on probiotics, supps etc....
I have decided to go ahead and take them on my own... Well sort of on my own, here's where you guys come in. Now I know its not medical advice from any of you, and its mostly just based on experience, its just I need somwhere to start.
I was wondering what I should start with an dwhat else to do. I only take acidophilous (SP?) and then my abx so I am TOTALLY clueless...

WOW there is so much to talk about but I am still learning myself so... I think lyme is a learning process period.
that being said I would say immediately that Acidophilis is not enough. You need to take good quality probiotics and you need to take them at least an hour or two away from your abx.
I take Renew Life Ultimate Flora Critical Care, 50 billion and Culturelle LG two of them at two of each twice a day at least.
I'm sure more ppl will comment on additional products you may need.

Take a good probiotic, something that has at least 15 billion cultures. Ulta flora critical care is a good one.There are several to chose from.
Also consider Florastor or saccharomyces boulardii, this will help with preventing c-diff
for detoxing: chlorella, apple pectin, as binders
For detoxing the liver: milk thistle, N-ac.
There is some debate, but I think magnesium is necessary.

Theralac is one of the best probiotics. I love it, it treats me much better than others I have tried. Many here use this one.
As for detox etc. I think I forgot to give you my Lyme Detox Tea recipe that I mentioned in another of your threads. I will post it, along with my Stomach/GI Support Tea recipe, here:
One is Detox (for everyday Lyme symptoms, and to help keep down Herxing), the other is for Stomach/Ulcers/GI problems. They have really helped me, so hopefully they might help some of you. Here are the recipes:

**Stomach/GI Tea**
My husband makes this and the detox tea, and then instead of cutting the stomach tea with 1/2 water, he just gives me a mug w/half detox and half stomach tea, (heated up on the stove instead of microwave). I drink this every morning and evening.
Bring to a medium boil for 5-10 minutes, or until viscosity visibly increases on the surface. Turn off heat, cover and let steep at least 4 hours (overnight is fine). Strain through 3 layers of cheesecloth - you will need to have enough that you can gather up the edges and squeeze the liquid out, as it will not drain freely beyond about 1/3 of the volume.
You can make enough to last a week (about 2 quarts/8 cups) and store in a closed container in the fridge.
Shake the container before pouring (it settles quite a lot). Cut the resulting liquid by 1/2 to 2/3 with boiling water to serve 1 cup 2x per day (or mix and reheat with 1/2 cup detox tea).
Boil for 5 minutes then let steep for 1 hour or more. Strain through cheesecloth over a sieve or colander. Mix and drink 1/2 cup Detox Tea with 1/2 cup water (or you can subsitute 1/2 cup Stomach Tea for water here) 2x per day.
You may cut either tea or the mix of teas with spring water if they are too strong or thick - just make sure you have the recommended dose of the tea before you add water to it.
You can do some research on each of these herbs online - Sarsaparilla has been well-studied for its anti-syphillitic properties, and its spirochetal endotoxin binding properties.
Let me know if you have any questions. These 2 teas helped me heal from my stomach ulcer from h. pylori, and got rid of my GERD (along with removing dairy and glutem, and other inflammatory foods). The Detox tea has helped me immensely with my very bad herxes. Without the tea I can't tolerate them at all.

If you need help finding a source for these herbs, or don't know how to shop for them, please let me know. Buying organic and wild-crafted herbs is always best, as they are stronger/more potent, healthier plants.
When you buy online and in bulk, it can be very affordable - much more affordable than buying herbs in capsules or in supplement mixes or tinctures.
You can also easily grow some of the herbs yourself in many climate zones, on your deck or patio, or front stoop, etc. For instance, Chamomile is a fun herb to grow, and easy to manage.
I actually use(d) Prescript Assist Pro for a soil based probiotic that doesnt need to be refrigerated. (recommended by Dr. B-see attached link) Its pretty good. The more cultures and strains the better. Its wise to compare products.
Also, in addition to that, I rotated Renew Life CRITICAL CARE ULTIMATE Flora (50 Billion Cultures/10 strains) or Theralac and VSL#3 depending upon my protocol at the time.
Another really good one is Iflora PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH, by Sedona Labs. (get from LLMD) It has 16 strains and 20 Billion Cultures.
The more abx, more good bugs! High live culture and the most live strains are the way to go.
It has been recommended to rotate probiotics and antifungals so that they will remain effective.
To keep yeast at bay, alot of folks use antifungal products or natural antifungal herbs such as Olive Leaf Extract by SeaGate, Oregamax, Fungal Defense by Garden of Life, VFend, etc. I have used most of these products, and there are LOADS more out there.
I would absolutely recommend a good variety of probiotics and antifungals to keep the gut and yeast in check.
If your yeast gets out of control, prescriptions could be necessary. The guidelines or this site at the TOP, can give you some pointers about what not to eat (SUGAR/CARBS) that FEED yeast along with some oral care-your tongue. UGH.. nasty!
It is HUGELY important to eat a low carb/low sugar diet or you will surely run into the yeasties. Sometimes yeast can be as bad as lyme symptoms! Detox also helps to flush away yeast too.
Supplements are necessary, with most LLMD's recommending, Magnesium, Super B Complex, Vitamin D, Immune Support, a very good Multivitamin, CQ 10, along with others....etc. etc.
Also check the labels for additives such as wheat, gluten, and of course YEAST. I didnt realize vitamins could be made with yeast and you dont want that!
Detoxing can vary from lemon water to alot of serious concoctions. Even exercise (if tolerated) is a form of detox. There are alot of good examples in this thread or you can do a search at the top of this page for more good stuff.
So, I hope this helps a little and you can take the time to read the guidelines. It is very informative.

PS I forgot to mention my LLMD is way BIG on Omega 3 FISH OIL (the pure stuff) for bones and joint health.

start one at a time and pay attention-does it help or hurt or do nothing
