Here's a recipe I enjoy.

Two packets of vitamin C fizzy drink with no water added yet. YOu get them at the health food store. They are dry packets of vit C powder with other essential nutrients added. Each packet is 1,000 mg. vitamin C. They are called "Emergen-C" is the trade name.

Measure out your sea salt into the same glass.

Add gatorade to the top of the glass. This should be a very LARGE drinking tumbler.

All fluid in the glass is from gatorade. (spelling?)

Mix and enjoy. (My husband is laughing at this statement) Do this three times daily. (Martha STewart, move over. :-)

I hope this is better in Gatorade than OJ. I tried that one.

Mary,

Just so you know, this is not the intended salt/c protocol and contains lots of fructose and a lot of other artificial ingredients. Your results may not be the same. I do understand that the salt/c may be difficult for some to drink.

You can always put the salt in capsules and take Vitamin C capsules if you can't tolerate drinking it.

I think you could actually feed the bacteria with this. Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade, but it may do more harm than good.

It's true, I am not a purist, and have often thought I should even cut out the fruit, but I do eat lots of fruit, and yes, there is sugar in gatorade. But I can't get it down another way, unless we can find sea salt in tablet form? That would be great.

I think often of going on a sugar busters diet, but as it is, I probably eat healthier than 90% of the planet.

You're not raining on my parade. Like you said, a balanced exchange of information. :-)

Mary,

In my post above this one, I mentioned that you could take the salt in capsules. I have a friend who puts the salt into clear capsules that he orders and takes the salt that way.

BTW, I am for whatever works, and if you told me you are seeing results taking it this way, then as the saying goes "The proof is in the pudding"

Just a suggestion. I am far from a purist myself, it's just that I want to see this work for you. Hope you're doing well,

Gael

It's true. Gatorade, sadly, is not of this earth. Even just its colors, additives and high fructose corn syrup can have some terrible effects on any body.

It's one of the stelar marketing campaigns, though. Electrolytes sound great, eh? And the fun colors add a spark to life but that adds stress to the liver.

-===========

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_ingredients_in_gatorade

Gatorade ingredients

Water, sugar, table salt, carbohydrates, electrolytes (110 mg sodium, 30 mg potassium, 93 mg chloride), high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, glucose, fructose, and sugar.

=================

For a nice fruit drink, I really love organic POMEGRANATE juice with a touch of stevia (a sweetener from plants). That is fantastic. And it has great nutrients.

The closer to nature, the less additives, the better. Your body will be much happier.

Pomegranate juice is also my new favorite! I found one that is pure pomegranate and blueberry. Pour over crushed ice, with a splash of water. Yum!

Yeah you can still get a natural good tasting drink using natural items and get the same affect your going after.

I know it can be hard to drink the Salt C and I sometimes mix it up with various things.

The more natural the better though.. I agree

EmergenC makes a couple flavors marked "Lite," that have less sugar (don't feel like looking for exact values online, but it was significantly less if i remember correctly), and there were no artificial sweeteners in the ingredients to my recollection (I don't buy things with them).

But, if you're taking like 10 EmergenC packets a day it might add up.....but then again it might not, if there is only 1 g or so per pack of the Lite.

I don't think the Lite ones are as sweet tasting though, so it might not mask the salt as well...you'd have to try it and see.
