This bubblegum flavored zith is impossible to get into my son.
What can I do?
He is too young to swallow pills. Should I crush them?
All those colors and flavors? What does a mom do?
I'm on the verge of giving up. . this might just be the straw that breaks the camels back.

There is also cherry flavor that works for my 3 1/2 yrs. Try that.

I feel for you because I have the same issue when my 2 year old is on it.
They only have the cherry flavor at our pharmacy, and he just will not take it.
His dosage is usually 1 tsp. once a day--I have to split the dose at least in half, and sometimes in fourths and put it in juice or soda to get him to take it.
Someone had suggested just shooting it in between his cheek and teeth as far back as I could get it, and then follow up with something yummy like chocolate pudding.
That didn't work for me, but it might for you.

I was worried about this for my 6 year old. Had only taken liquid meds before. We've tried liquid zith flavored with banana. That couldn't get past his lips, was foul.
So we opted to try pills. Tried putting it whole in pudding first, but didn't go so well. (It might for your son?) I also crushed it and put it in pudding, he took it, but I'm sure it was bitter.
We ended up sitting him down & taught him how to swallow it whole. Told him he swallowed food that was bigger than that little pill. He's now a pro and very proud that he can do it. His big brother didn't learn how to swallow pills til he was 12!
Good luck.

peacemania, I don't have an answer for liquids. If you decide to switch to pills, sort of like what songbird and starfall suggested...You can slip a whole or half pill at a time in a teasp to tablsp dollop of favorite flavor jelly or jam and have them swallow the dollop. Works every time in my house.

My daughter can't swallow pills and can't have any of the liquid forms of meds due to all the artificial colorings and sweeteners and fillers that she is allergic to, so we get her meds compounded in capsule form.
Her capsules contain only the meds, no fillers, etc. We open the capsules and mix the meds in with a small amount (about 1 tsp) of either applesauce or pear sauce (organic baby food). She isn't a baby, she's 12--LOL--but has awful gag reflex, probably another thing due to Lyme!
If you have a compounding pharmacy near you, I would suggest you try that. Her compounded meds cause a tad more than what regular co-pay for meds would cost--$30 versus $10--but yours will depend on your insurance.
I believe our compounding pharmacy can ship meds, so if you can't find one local, you can PM me and call them to find out more details.
(Oh, also keep in mind that compounding takes longer to fill so you have to remember to order refills at least a week prior to when you will be running out and then of course even longer if you have to get them shipped.)
Hope this helps and good luck!
