We came home last night and there was a tick on
my daughters leg. It didnt seem to have latched on yet and it wasnt engorged. My husband easily
pulled it off. Today there seems to be a little redness around where the tick was with a tiny pinhole in the middle.
Could this be a bulleye rash already? Or maybe just some redness.
She is currently on amoxicllin and flagyl. I am
very nervous.
Thanks,
Deb G

Sounds to me as though the tick had completed its meal, if she has a bite-mark.
I can tell from your tone that you already know what you have to do. Call the LLMD first thing Monday.

I just went through this myself. If there is redness and swelling at the bite mark already, it's not the rash. It's the allergic reaction to the tick saliva's anesthesia. That round bite mark can hang around for a while, mine have lasted over a week.
The rash may occur later. But it doesn't matter, not having a rash doesn't mean that she wasn't reinfected.
But the good news is that she is basically immune from lyme since she's taking abx.
The bad news is she may have been infected with a co-infection that her treatment won't work against, such as Babesia.
Did you keep the tick? You can get it tested if she starts showing other symptoms.
Keep you eye on her and familiarize yourself about the symptoms of co-infections.
Don't panic. You got on this early so you should be able to take care of it.
Meanwhile, you can read my amusing encounter with tick bites last week.

Thanks guys..I am totally FREAKING OUT..everybody has to go thru so much...we've been treating for
nearly a year...AND NOW THIS? I never even thought about the co infections. She has been
treated for Bartonella...
The tick was on for 4 hours or less...
I hate this....

I don't think tick attachment time is relevant.
If you saved the tick, have it tested. One place that tests them is IgeneX in Palo Alto, CA.
Do let her doctor know. I know this is upsetting, but the good news is that you know what to do now. Remember not all ticks are infected. Hopefully this one is not.

When I was bitten, the tick was not engorged. It just sort of stuck to my leg and I flicked it off. I did get the rash. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I had been bitten by a tick until 1 1/2 years later. Trust me, it doesn't matter if it was engorged.

Be alert for worse symptoms, particularly Babesia symptoms. They are: night sweats, bad headaches or migraines, air hunger, worse
fatigue. If she has any of the above, she should get on Babesia treatment ASAP. And, of course, you should call your LLMD ASAP.
I went through this this Memorial Day weekend---getting bitten again while on rocephin. In spite of adding doxy, I went down hill fast---really badly. When we added Babesia treatment, I started improving again.
But, strangely enough, in spite of all the abx, I got a new onset of Bell's Palsy in August!!! It's gotten better, but isn't gone yet. What a slippery slope!
Now, if we could just put these blasted ticks on the chairs of the IDSA guidelines ducks instead of us . . .
