I tend to push myself really hard. My husband and I are going to meet tomorrow to talk about the way that I work until I drop, then drop and then do it all over again. I teach yoga on Mondays, which puts me out until Tuesday, or later. I teach creative writing on Thursdays, which puts me down until Saturday. We have to find a system that works. . and we can't afford to have me not teach.
Yesterday, I took a nap, because I was going to a little reception for Jordan Fisher Smith being in town for an UOS screening. I didn't want to miss it.
I slept for THREE hours. This was my 4th nap since I started treatment in October -08. I went to the party, came home and slept hard. Went to yoga class and then came home and NAPPED AGAIN. Wow.
So, tonight, rather than being *****y and in my typically barely functional. . .do a million things and do them all poorly sort of way, I actually warmed up dinner, cleaned the kitchen, let my kids help (usually takes too much energy to get them to help), and now I'm baking bread in the bread maker and taking a sauna.
My question is this -- do you nap? Do you have more clarity/strength/ability to function if you just give in to the nap.
I know. . some of you might be saying, "duh", but this seems revolutionary to me.
I push, push, push, push and I'm always tired and crabby.

Naps are definitely sweet. And definitely necessary for some.
Number one, I have a difficult time falling asleep unless it's night and I'm in my bed.
Number two, if I do happen to nap because I'm feeling particularly exhausted, oftentimes I'll feel worse afterwards. Kind of foggy and groggy and zoned out, not refreshed at all.
So, no naps for me. I do best if I just get a good night's sleep.

I tend to push myself too and If I have a day that I feel good I really overdue it. Fortunately it doesn't effect me too much any more thanks to treatment.
But definitely give in to the nap if its doable. It could save you crashing for a few days straight.
If you need to work and its tiring lay down for a little while when you can. It makes a big difference.
Yesterday I fell asleep in the afternoon, on the couch in the evening and I still fell asleep quickly when I went to bed. I exercised a lot this week and must have needed it.
Listen to your body. When you feel like you need to be super wife and mom to make up for the sick days its hard to give in to this.
