Has anyone ever done one of these?

They give you 50mg iodine and you take it in the morning and collect urine throughout the day.

They will see how much you absorb showing how deficient you are.

Can I expect a die off/herx from this much iodine?

I'm excited about supplementing with iodine because i think there are a ton of benefits to iodine.

And we all seem to be lacking in iodine.

Is this a regular test through a local lab, or a specialized test?

I've considered getting this tested, but figured my doc would have no idea what it is, and no local lab (that insurance pays for) would even do it.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you can do a Google search for "iodine loading test."

http://www.google.com/search?q=iodine+loading+test&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7_____en

You might want to book mark the query page for Google searches on your computer -- or better yet, you can add Google to your bar at the top of your computer screen for even easier access for doing Google searches.

Google makes everyone look like geniuses because then you can find out the pros and cons of almost anything -- even things that you didn't know to ask about before.

Specialized test, and they do not accept any type of insurance. Not sure if it was "all in my head" but the day I loaded with iodine I did not have an irregular heartbeat, all day. It was one of my better days. Today is the second day I am now supplementing with iodine. So far, only a strong urine smell, feel better than "normal."

kipdee,

What iodine are you using and how much?

(sure there is a ramp phase)

Also... are you on anything for adrenals/thyroid?

I did it. Insurance covered it no problem. It's an enormous amount of iodine compared to RDA limits (4,000+ times). I hope these darn docs know what they're doing seriously.

seek,

RDA is a joke.

Mot docs will tell you that 150 mcg of iodine isn't enough to overcome the amount of bromide/chlorine/flouride our bodies have accumulated over the years.

How much do you take seek?

btw, lmao @ 150 micrograms being RDA! LOL

You know how much they eat in japan on a day to day basis?
