Am in hell with depersonalization and family stresses are through the roof. My brain feels on fire. On iv for lyme and bart, but took orals the last 2 days. I take an extended release 1 mg and 1-2 .5's through the day to cope. My psych said to maybe take a half of .5 or most is upto 3 .5's. Please say things will get better with all? I wish you all good health and peace. [confused]

Yes, this can get better. And, please pardon me for a blip on the screen here and if xanax is working well for you, just pass this on by for now. But first be sure your liver support and magnesium are well in place as they are very important.

However, if xanax is not helping - or if it is making it worse - there may be a reason. It could be a porphyria attack.

If you have any kind of porphyria, xanax can make symptoms much worse. If your reaction has to do with elevated porphyrins, BETA CAROTENE can help. Carrot Juice with GREENS or a good Greens Powder.

Is your LIVER SUPPORT pretty good? MAGNESIUM and FISH OIL (Krill Oil or OmegaBrite) on board?

One LLMD estimates that about 80 % of lyme patients deal with at least on kind of porphyria (KPU). Porphyria is a liver condition that makes certain drugs toxic because the liver just can't keep up or is deficient in the exact enzymes needed to metabolize the drugs that go through the Cytochrome P-450 liver detox pathway.

Xanax is on the unsafe list.

A porphyria attack can look exactly like a herx. It can produce intense physical and psychological reactions.

This shines some light on that:
