- It's the toxic overload and how that can destroy the nerve function but also trash the liver and fry the adrenal system.
Toxins also can affect our inner ear/balance system and when that is out of whack, anxiety follows as the body can't figure out where it is in space and the fight or flight hormones kick in.
Lyme is one of the most toxic infections known to man. Yes, it can be a huge contributor to anxiety. But, so can other tick-borne infections. For many, bartonella has been a mighty force.
But, it's the toxicity that can be from any infection - and, in some cases - from certain drugs or foods. In addition to being proactive with treating all infections, Liver support - and adrenal support - are key.
When the liver (&/or kidneys) face too much to easily clear out, the toxins hang around and cause even more damage in the body.
Avoid all artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame) and MSG in all its names, too.
Magnesium is the number one helper to decrease anxiety as it is often from magnesium deficiency - which can also be from Vitamin D deficiency.
Fish oil and Turmeric/Curcumin is also very helpful. Antioxidants and supplements that help reduce endotoxins are also important as they work on many levels.

I'm in year 1 of treatment for lyme and babesia and definitely have increased anxiety (and insomnia) which I'm also treated for but not with abx. When it gets really bad (anxiety overcomes the meds), I go off all abx then slowly build back up.

I had rediculous anxiety back in Feb / March / early April when I started feeling bad. I thought I was going nuts. I would panic. I was told it was stress so I went on 20mg of Prozac.
It has helped.
I definitely have less / no anxiety now. Not sure if that is because I now know it is Lyme or because of Prozac. I want to come off in a few months.
