I am wondering why my Dr. only has me on 200 mg doxy/day - 100 in the AM, 100 PM?? I read that 400 mg/day is the minimum dose to give an adult.

She also has me on 500 mg zithromax, AM and PM...and i read in Dr. B's treatment guidelines that zithromax is not very effective when taken orally.

Zithromax really bothers my ears. Should I up my doxy tomorrow and lower my zithro?

I am seeing my LLMD next Tues. for the 1st time, so maybe I should just stay on what I have been taking and see what they say.

What do you think?

I personally would not self prescribe but 200 mg doxy does seem low.

Probably best to talk it over with your llmd and come to a decision.

My guess is your doctor is not a lyme literate doctor. Those who are not lyme literate always prescribe 200 mg of doxy per day. They are following the Infections Disease Society of American (IDSA) guidelines. That's why the low dosage.

It takes a lyme doc to give credence to Dr. Burrascano.
