found this lovely little critter on my dog. I have looked at the pictures on line, I guess it looks like a dog tick?

It does look like the dog tick under the pictures posted here but I'm sure there are lots of varieties of these things they don't have pictures posted of. I'm paranoid about all of them.

I agree with you lymetoo, it does look like a lone star tick. Maybe there are more types than what pics are posted. I would love to have it tested, just because. But my son drowned it in tabasco. Dont worry, he didnt touch it.

I visualize a little tick with his cowboy hat and boots hitch hiking along the highway.. "Ohio or bust".. lol Ok, yes I am losing my mind.

Good link TuTu , I couldnot see a white dot in the pic - the lone star is noted for that dot.

Actually, I do not know how to link a picture, but if you google American Dog tick and Lone Star under images, the Dog tick is it. It has white around the head, the lone star has a white dot in the middle of the back. I apologize that I cannot link the photos. Maybe later when I get some help.
