OK, another friend with a sick kid. This 14 year old has lyme and has been in treatment with LLMD for about a year.

He woke up yesterday with red streaks under his arms, going horizontally across his sides, about 5 inches below his arm pits. They are about 7 inches long.

It sounds like my kids' Bart streaks on their hips, but they are more vertical.

Any ideas?

They should take a picture before it goes away so that a doctor can look at it.

Hi 17hens-

This is weird...

I have lyme/bart and noticed a while back the appearance of a few red streaky looking marks on my left hip. I never knew what it was.

Maybe this child's marks are, in fact, from the Bartonella?

Hope you get some clarification!

jwick, google "bartonella rash" images and you'll see the streaks my kids have on their hips.

They started out looking like the pic on lymedisease.org (2nd pic, top row) but after a few years they look like the pic on mdjunction.com (2nd pic, 2nd row).

They also have about 4 different bart rashes. Never knew what they all were either until I got sick last year.

Yes, the mom has taken pictures for the LLMD, but she asked me if I knew or if I could ask you guys. I'm not sure a lot of LLMDs are familiar with all the rashes. She knows lymenet is the place to get answers!

Just wanted to let you all know, the boy with these weird stripes went to his excellent LLMD in Y, PA today.

The LLMD said definitely BART streaks.

This boy was tested at Igenex last August and was positive for lyme and negative for coinfections. He's been treated for a year for lyme, but was not feeling better.

Now, a year after treatment began, Bart streaks (although in a strange place) appeared and the LLMD will now treat accordingly.

He is so excited that by the time school starts this year (or soon after) there is a chance he will be feeling better!!! PTL!!!

Note - just because you test negative for coinfections, if you do not progress on lyme treatment only, you MUST consider coinfections!!!
