Hi, I am from Northern Ireland and Lyme disease is rare here. I returned a few weeks ago from a two week holiday in Italy. Since returning I have been generally feeling unwell, weak sort and 'sort of out of it'. I feel like my chest is tight and that I cannot get a deep satisfying breath as well as feeling like my normal breathing is uncomfortable. I feel as though below my ribcage is swollen where my diaphram would be I guess. Ive been to the doctor twice now and been described beta blockers as she thought it was stress but they didnt relieve the symptoms. I went back the second time to have blood tests done but they dont cover checking for lyme disease. The only reason I think possibly lyme disease is because after I took the beta blockers about a week after returning from holiday I delevoped a circular itchy rash first on my arm and then on my leg (2 circular marks). I was bitten over 20 times when I was in Italy by mosquitos and I think the circular rashes are on the same spots where I was previously bitten. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Are you looking for a Lyme specialist in Ireland?

It sounds like you could have lyme, Babesia, and perhaps Bartonella. The "air hunger" you describe is a common Babesia symptom...a common co-infection with lyme.
