Hello All,

I have been experiencing a lot of the symptoms of Lyme Disease for many years but attributed to getting older. I'm not sure if I have the disease or not since I don't remember having a rash, although I know that it does not always present, I want to at least rule it out. I am in Charlottesville, VA but I don't think that there any specialists here....at UVa....imagine that! Anyway, if someone could please PM or email me a list of Virginia Specialists, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks,

D

Please check your private messages for the LLMD list for Virginia and information regarding ILADS, Dr. B's guidelines and lots of helpful links.

Do join in the discussion in our ``medical section'' for additional help, education and support. It's a great place to learn more about this very complex illness. You can also find your local support group on the left hand side of this web page for additional help.

People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.

The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.

To find your state group, go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Type your state name and lyme as one word, like this -
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newyorklyme

South Carolina is the only state that needs a hyphen between the statename
and lyme, e.g. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/southcarolina-lyme

This explains the medical politics around Lyme, and why you need an ILADS-educated or ILADS-member LLMD (and there are also some ILADS-member LL NDs (naturopathic doctors):

You should also be evaluated for coinfections. Not all tests are great in that regard, either, but a good LLMD can evaluate you and then guide you in testing. www.igenex.com http://www.frylabs.com/; http://www.clongen.com/; http://focusdx.com

This is my first post (how do you make a new post?) I was diagnosed with Lyme in 1983 and treated for a year. Have never worked with a Lyme Literate Dr. Have been dealing with chronic illnesses my whole life. Am ready to begin seeing a Lyme Literate Dr. and I live in Harrisonburg, VA, about 1 1/2 hrs from N.VA, 1 hr from Charlottesville, 2 hrs from D.C. Will drive to see the best Dr. as I am very ready...! can anyone steer me the best direction of Dr. and to a support group near my area? Thank you so much.

Big D--I'm just an hour from Charlottesville, so if you learn anything, please do let me know as I am looking for a Lyme Literate Dr. also. Also, any good support groups in our area. Thanks! Susan

Please post ALL NEW REQUESTS for a doctor in a ``NEW AND SEPARATE POST'' by clicking on the Icon that says "Post New Topic" on the top of this web page.

Our volunteers, who help with LLMD referrals, look for "NEW" requests and don't go back to look at older Topics that have already been answered. We would not want your request to go unnoticed and unanswered.

Thank you much. [Smile]
