I am seeking a specialist in Sussex County NJ or surrounding area.

I became infected July 10, 2009.
21 days of Doxycycline. Two blood tests taken 30 days a part came back positive. My PCP told me it's out of his hands and to see an Infectious Disease specialist.

There is only on IDS in my plan in this area and my contractor who has been infected for years recommended him. After speaking with my contractor more in depth at another time, I wasn't really happy with what he was telling me.

It's something that you just have to live with. It will get worse but then your symptoms will go away. Take more pills and then the cycle repeats over and over. I have read many articles online but its confusing on what to believe.

I have symptoms and they are not going away so I would like to see someone asap. I don't want to just sit back and take it.

If you know of someone, please let me know.

I am sorry that you are going through this.

I don't have anyone to recommend in sussex cty NJ

If you are from Sussex Cty though, I just saw listed on the community college website that they are showing "Under Our Skin" on Wednesday.

If you go to their website it will give you the details, I think there is a number to call too.

I am not involved in this screening, a friend told me about it. I was surprised b/c I didn't see anything in the papers advertising it.

Sussex County Community College in Newton, NJ
I don't know the website, but if you google the college it will show up.

I recommend this movie to everyone, but especially to people who are newly dx.

Good luck.

Stormy,

Please check your private messages for the LLMD list for New Jersey and information regarding ILADS, Dr. B's guidelines and lots of helpful links.

Do join in the discussion in our ``medical section'' for additional help, education and support. It's a great place to learn more about this very complex illness. You can also find your local support group on the left hand side of this web page for additional help.

Link for "Under Our Skin" sent.

People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.

The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.

To find your state group, go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Type your state name and lyme as one word, like this -
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newyorklyme

South Carolina is the only state that needs a hyphen between the statename
and lyme, e.g. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/southcarolina-lyme

This explains the medical politics around Lyme, and why you need an ILADS-educated or ILADS-member LLMD (and there are also some ILADS-member LL NDs (naturopathic doctors):

www.clinicaladvisor.com/Controversy-continues-to-fuel-the-Lyme-War/article/117160/

You should also be evaluated for coinfections. Not all tests are great in that regard, either, but a good LLMD can evaluate you and then guide you in testing. www.igenex.com http://www.frylabs.com/; http://www.clongen.com/; http://focusdx.com
