Would appreciate any help to find a Competent, experienced, honest doctor.
Live in Orlando, will travel anywhere if someone can help me (desperate). Los Angeles is another possibility, my sister is there.
I am thrilled to find this community.
I have greatly struggled last 20 years and getting much worse last 5 years. Symptoms have become extremely debilitating (dizziness, exhaustion, severe cognitive issues (alzheimer's like) eye sight issues, etc.) Barely functioning.
Have been to dozens of doctors, other healthcare professionals and naturalpaths.
50 year old female Had tick bites between 1973-1978 Need to know how to get definitive diagnosis Have had Fibromyalgia diagnosis for 10 years Have MTHFR Mutation Have researched and take some supplements/had terrible Herx reaction Need treatment plan Trying to keep working but barely able, no other support source

I sent you a name. This doc is very competent, experienced and honest. He will help you tremendously I am sure. Read his webpage.
Welcome to LymeNet! We will help you here all we can. Many can relate to your story. Lyme will just get worse and worse over the years until you get good treatment for it. It will just steadily progress. So, do all within your power to get to the best lyme doc you possibly can afford.
There used to be one good lyme doc in Tampa, but he has retired. So, now there is no one in Florida that I recommend.
Ask us all the questions you like. We will be happy to answer you. You don't have to stay stuck in your situation. That's the good news. You will improve!

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
There was a good one in Tampa, but he retired. At least half of all Lyme patients travel out of state for their care.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.
Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
