Nicole and I just got back from her appointment with the LLMD in Missouri.

It was a huge success and relief.

Nicole's emotional state has gone from imminent suicide to hope.

She has been diagnosed with probable Borreliosis and co-infections plus Candida.

She is on an antibiotic treatment plan plus lots of supportive therapies.

Dr. C has ordered a bunch of tests.

Her local doc says he will support this treatment plan.

Nicole also got a new pain med that is helping much more then the old.

Dr. C said her pain is probably nerve pain that masks itself as muscle pain.

Her old pain med is for muscle pain so was not doing anything.

She got immediate relief - not total, but much more than with the old - from the new meds.

This is also making it easier for her to hang in there.

If every moment of her life is not excruciating she can survive long enough to see the treatment through.

The trip was really hard on her.

Getting ready to go, the plane ride, renting a car, getting to the hotel the day before just wiped her out.

The next morning (our appointment was at 7:30 AM) she was in such excruciating pain she didn't think she could go to the appointment.

She just sobbed. She couldn't even put on her own socks.

It was too painful for me to dress her, so I simply managed to put on her socks and shoes and took her in her jammies.

She was so humiliated.

But Dr. C was great.

One of the first things he said was ``I know you are sick and I can help you.''

This caused a new round of tears, but this time from joy and hope.

She said it was the first time in years that a doc really believed she is as sick as she is.

And the first time in even more years that a doc said he could help her and gave her hope for a normal life.

I could not have done this without all you guys.

You have been so supportive and helpful I can not even believe it.

Thank you all for starting us on the road back to a normal, livable life.

Sincerely - Dara

Hi Dara,

I'm so happy to hear your good news.

I know how encouraging this must be for both of you.

Did you think to ask about school?

Thanks for the great news. [Smile]

Hope is something we all need. I am so glad your daughter has hope again.

It isn't an easy road. One filled with detours and pot holes...

But to get better, you have to go down this road.

Best news is....you don't have to travel alone.

We are here anytime you need some help or support.

Thank God for our LLMD's. So glad for your daughter and you.

Hugs,

Geneal

Aw Dara,
Isn't Dr. C great? My first visit with him was on 1/31 and for the first time in a while, I felt hope! After the nurse brought us in to the room, I just started bawling. My hubby didn't know what to do or why. Poor guy. I was actually having a not so bad day that day, maybe that was part of it. I just had this terrible fear that he would look at me and say, "You are not sick...nope, not you...you are fine...it's all in your head!" Of course he did not say that and I'm now trying to sort thru the different antibiotics and finding one that will work for me but praise the Lord, I am finally on the way!!! You're daughter will be too!!

I am so grateful to the folks here for helping me get help. Dr. C was an answer to prayer for us.

Blessings,
Kimberly in MO

Wow, he's just amazing. Look at what hope has brought her!!!

I'm so glad I insisted that you call them!!! They get cancellations frequently because so many come from other states and due to weather conditions, etc are often unable to get to their appointments.

God bless your daughter! Tell her to hang in there!! [group hug]

Yes, it's a miracle we got in as quick as we did. We had an initial appointment for 6 weeks from then, but nurse called with a cancellation.

N is really sick to her stomach right now. Throwing up eveything she puts in it.

I had her back off on the meds, take each pill an hour apart with food, that kind of thing.

She is so anxious to start I think she built up the doses too quickly. Dr. C said to go slow to avoid stomach upset.

She did say the B-12 shot really helped her energy level.

So that is 2 things she already feels improved. The pain with the new pain meds and the energy.

Of course, improved energy only means she can get off the couch to go to a friends house and lay on HER couch, but hey! - it's a start!

Her attitude is much improved too, now that she sees a way out of this and believes she can get well.

She joined a gym to use the sauna for detox, Her dad also talked to a personal trainer over there who agreed to put together a slow andf gentle work out program based on Dr. B's guidelines.

This from a girl who two weeks ago couldn't think about walking to the car! Who 3 years ago was a state champion equestrian!

Dara,

Your post brought tears to my eyes. Thank God you found Lymenet and Dr. C. I have heard only good things about him.

I understand the feelings you and Nicole went through when he said yes, you are sick and I understand. I went through the same thing with My daughter.

It isn't an easy process this fight Nicole has started, but she will get there. Just hang in there. When things get bad there are lots of experienced people here who will come to your aid.

I got a read education here. There was always and still is someone always willing with some suggestions. There is always Lyme chat. The help there is good too.

Take Care,

HUGS,

Dara,

You are such a wonderful mother. Sometimes I pray for the children out there who have Lyme, but who don't have pro-active parents. What can possibly save them????

You're the one who God is using to save your daughter's life. I know all of the hours you spend researching and tending your daughter.

I'm learning to be patient and know that this battle is a marathon, not a sprint. We are winning, but it's slow and patience is necessary.

Thank you for posting, I'm soooooo glad you have hope - you should!

Dara,

I am ecstatic to read of your daughter's improved emotional outlook and help with pain.

God Bless Dr C, you and Nicole. You are the best mother ever to go to great lengths to help her recover.

Maybe when Nicole feels even better, she will get on lymenet and enjoy the support here too.

Praying for steady improvement for Nicole!!

Can you PM me so I can know who your primary care doctor is who is being friendly to Dr C's plan? I record the listing for Lyme Friendly doctors as well as LLMD's and other health professionals who work with Lyme patients.

Often it is the "Non-LLMD's" who play a big role in the supportive therapies behind the antibiotics and other supplements. These doctors are in short supply so it helps to have names where a patient can go for Primary Care without having her/his specialist called a quack by the PCP.

Dara,

We just saw Dr. C. for the first time last week. My daughter is 14. We just loved him. He really seems to care about his patients.
