Had to boast, and none of my friends would understand why this is so significant, so I've decided to post here...

I prepared 3 meals for myself today!!! Actual meals. Frittata for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and dinner... I didn't actually eat much, but preparing the meals is a step in the right direction for someone that often goes days without eating. Still on bowel rest from the GI bleed no one could find last weekend, and that required me to get 2 units of blood so eating is a little scary.

I'm so proud. Got back from my LLMD appt on Wednesday and decided that I wanted to try a little harder to be more compliant and get back on track. (Especially since I flat out said no to the plan he'd made for me.)

I'm not setting myself up for failure this time by making every change I need to make in a single day. Slowly I'm trying to get my act together. [Smile]

May actually work this time. I know this particular LLMD has had nothing but non-compliance from me since day one a year ago (my other LLMDs tired me out). Compliance from me is long overdue. [Wink]

Hi- sorry to hear about your troubles! What kinds of pain meds are you on?
There was a pain med I took that had a similar effect to what you discribe, GI-wise. (bleeding, and pain as well..) I don't know what the 'active ingredient' supposedly was, but the 'trade name' ws ..'celebrex'...-- it's been taken off the market, but maybe somebody else 'discovered' a similar active ingredient..

What worked for me to fix it was yarrow, an herb you can get at "health food" stores or supermarkets with good "health and wellness" sections. I'd make tea from a "rounded teaspoon" of this herb steeped for 5 minutes in a cup of just-boiled water, and drank a bit before taking abx and other herbal meds. This yarrow tea worked wonders. It's NOT too yummy, though, I'll warn you! I hope it gets better soon!

I don't do pain meds, unless I've just had some sort of surgery... There's really no point, and I hate that itchy nose I get with narcotics.

AP,

Yes, Yay for you!! Good going on taking a step the direction you want to go. [woohoo]

Spending the energy to prepare three meals in one day is a lot in my book: take a bow.

You are wise to build in success by changing just what you can handle, not everything at one time. Atta girl and keep going...you can do it!

It is important to acknowledge our accomplishments. Cooking takes a lot of energy and healthy people wouldn't get that excited.

I am so thankful for crock pots! Big energy savers!! [group hug]

Thanks! Gotta be honest here... I feel like my body has already used up the blood I was given. There's more proof that I have a GI bleed, even on bowel rest, and I really don't want to go to the hospital because I have a date a night this week.

I just want to live!!!

Trying to wait until tomorrow, when I can talk to my PCP and the anticoagulation clinic to be switched to injections so I can get another round of oscopies, but if symptoms get too bad tonight, it's back to the ER for me. [Frown]
