Hi everyone,

My 24 year old son is in the Army Reserve.

He just told us that his unit is being deployed to Iraq in April 2010.

He said he will start training at various locations around the US in early October.

I have been praying since he joined that he would not be sent to a war zone.

He repairs trucks and said he will be on a base.

That doesn't really make me feel better.

I am scared to death that I could lose him.

He is also having back problems right now.

He has a probable ruptured disc and might need laparoscopic surgery. He has an MRI on 9/24 at 6 pm.

I'm wondering if that is God's way of somehow keeping him home.

Please keep my son, Andrew in your prayers daily, and all of our service members.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Thank you feelfit.

The only way I can cope with it right now is to try not to think about it.

I'll be a basket case by the time April comes.

I appreciate the prayers for my Son.

Fear not ... a number of my friends have been there and back in the past 5 years. Although they didn't enjoy the deployment to the "sand box", they returned just fine. According to them, things are not as dangerous in Iraq now.

Good Evening 48:

Peace to you.

April 2010, a lot can happen between now and then. Lord willing, Andrew won't have to go to Iraq. If he does go, am praying for the Lord's protection.

In the meantime--one day at a time, His grace is sufficient.

I have a little bear made out of camouflage holding an American flag. I'll add Andrew's name to it.

My brother was there for three tours and has arrived home safe.

My neighbors husband just got back after two years there.

He feels the media tends to exagerate things over there and they are shaping up.

Prayers for your peace of mind and time to pass a little more quickly until he returns home-

Dekrator, I'm praying for your son and your whole family. Not only about Iraq, but more immediate are the prayers for his back and possible surgery.

A few months ago my daughter was in an accident on her honeymoon, and developed a blood clot in her leg. (These can be fatal at any moment).

I was very afraid, just as you are, that I would lose her. Finally I had to realize that she was God's first, and I simply had to do what I could, and leave it in His hands.

Of course, I had all my Lymenet and church families praying for her as well.

We will continue in prayer for Andrew's well being through all these upcoming issues, and will keep your family in prayer also.

Hugs from another MOM!!!

Melodymaker,

Thank you very much for all your prayers...for Andrew now with his back problems, for going to Iraq and for our family.

I can understand how scary that must have been for you and your daughter.

I hope she is doing very well now.

Thanks again, and big hugs back to you!!!

Hi Lymetoo,

Thank you for your prayers.

I am proud of him.

However, I am selfish enough, as a Mom who wants to protect their child, to want him to stay in the USA and not be sent to Iraq.

He has no problem with going...it's me and my daughter who are going nuts.

Thanks again.

We owe your son a great deal of thanks for what he is doing. I can identify with what you are going through.

Our son came back from Iraq two months ago after being deployed three different times...once to Iraq, once to Kuwait, once to Bahrain.

Prayers work, because our son came back. I will pray for your son.

Hugs,

Hi everyone,

Here is an update on the situation with my son's back problems....

He had an MRI and has a ruptured disc.

He saw a Dr who referred him to a pain management Dr for injections.

It took awhile for him to get an appt with the pain Dr.

He had an injection into the area 1 week ago and is feeling better, although still limping some.

He is back to work and will have another injection on the 11th.

While he was incapacitated he missed some Army Reserve training that his Unit is doing in preparation for going to Iraq in April, 2010.

One of the schools he missed was to train them to go out and retrieve the broken down trucks that need fixed, and bring them back to the base to be repaired.

I was SO THANKFUL that he missed that school!

He said he will not be certified to do that....so I think that means he will not be able to go out into the field where it is more dangerous......at least I am hoping that is what it means.

It looks like his back problems will not keep him from going to Iraq, but perhaps the missed school due to the injury, may keep him out of harm's way.

I am thanking God for that.

Thoughts and prayers are with you. On a happy note for myself and my daughter in law and granddaughter...my son has left Afghanistan today.

He has already served in Iraq. Do you know the military base he'll be stationed at?

I am so excited!! Yet, I feel your concern.
