It's late, about to get to sleep, but had to mention this - I just got finished watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann, he did an hour-long special comment on health reform tonight, and in the last segment, he mentions lyme disease (I was shocked to hear it mentioned on a major show like this).
He talks about his dad who just had surgery for kidney disease, and how he ran into an old childhood friend in the hospital, whose daughter has been in ICU for 3 weeks with lyme disease. And now this friend now has to sell his farm to pay for his daughter's treatment, and ties it all into how messed up health care is in this country.
Not sure where I am going with this, but it almost brought me to tears hearing this, and hearing someone as big as him taking notice of it, and making a point of it on his show.

Wondered if he came up with any solutions to our complex problem with health care.
I will try and watch the video later. Not able to right now due to lyme brain.

I did catch part of it. Thanks for referring us to the segment.
I know we can do better with our health care system. WE have got to.

This was so wonderful that he mentioned Lyme and how horrible our current health care system in general really is.
This will bring more awareness to our disease and in general how deplorable and devastating health bills are for average American family's. I mean my goodness, people are losing everything when they get a serious illness.
His show is watched by millions of viewers. If anything, this show will bring more awareness about how bad Lyme really can be and how many of our sisters and brothers loose so much in regards to paying for their Lyme treatments and other health issues in general.
Something must change.

Can we even try to find the good in what Keith was saying in regards to Lyme Disease????
We get that some don't like the possible new healthcare reform, but to make this thread into something negative when Keith O was bringing light to our disease and was gracious to even mention it is a large part of what is wrong right now.
I don't care if it is Bill O or Keith O talking about our disease, but we should at least give him kudos for talking about Lyme Disease so passionately and the other diseases as well.
He exposed our healthcare system for what it is and although you may be content with the current state of affairs within our healthcare(and not like what Obama is proposing), he said nothing that was not true about Lyme.
Millions upon millions of viewers watch him and this is only a good thing for our Disease to have attention and famous ppl discussing it.

No one ever said anything negative. I'm glad he 'mentioned' it, just wish bigger names than him actually talked about it more often, instead of just a little 20 second mention of it...
Keith's highest consistent view rating has been 800,000. I would like to see some talk shows and bigger news shows mention it as well that have more than 5x's the amount of viewers, Dateline, 60 Minutes, Today, Bill O', Beck, John Stossel ect... I think Bill O's last rating release was 3,800,000 viewers.
The health channel has done several shows on it and Wild Condor's. Hunting channels talk about it all the time now and many outdoors channels and gun enthusiasts websites/channels are also very good on the subject.
The truth is on our side and the truth always wins, it just takes time to get it out... sad part is, lyme will be a pandemic (which it kinda already is) before everyone actually knows their stuff on it, even us lymies and LLMD's don't know everything yet.
