'Dessert with Discussion' series to look at Lyme Disease in Michigan

On Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Dr. Jean Tsao will discuss Lyme Disease in Southern Michigan

in the Academic Center Auditorium at the MSU Kellogg Biological Station (KBS).

Dr. Tsao, from the MSUs Departments of Large Animal Clinical Studies and Fisheries and Wildlife, will explain the disease, which is acquired through tick bites.

This disease is difficult to diagnose given that the symptoms resemble many other illnesses, but can be treated easily with antibiotics.

Tsaos past research has focused on disease ecology, conservation medicine, invasive species and emerging diseases,

and managing disease risk. Her current work specifically focuses on Lyme Disease exposure in Southern Michigan.

Coffee, tea and desserts will accompany the presentation. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

For additional information about this program call KBS Community Relations at 269-671-2263 or e-mail [email protected]

The KBS Academic Center is located at 3700 East Gull Lake Drive near Hickory Corners, MI.
