I am seeing an out of state/out of network provider and have been paying out of pocket. My health insurance company told me I may be able to have this provider covered and paid for, but I will need my PCP to submit a letter saying that I need to see this specific provider. They will check to make sure there isn't a provider in network that could treat me and then they would cover it.
I know that there are other LLMDs in my state, but I wouldn't know who they are without getting their info here on lymenet. It's not like they advertise in the yellow pages under "Lyme". And I actually live on the border of both states, so the out of state provider is actually closer to me than any in state providers on the list I was given here. It is cheaper, too, I think.
I have an appointment with my PCP on Monday and I was thinking I should bring in a letter that she could just sign and submit. Does anyone have advice for me on what the letter should or shouldnt say? Has anyone been through this process before? Thanks!
