So are you planning to use fruit in your smoothies? If so, blueberries are probably the easiest.

I was using coconut milk in mine. Now I just use water. You won't taste the milk really.

Drinking any of that stuff by itself is way different from having it in a smoothie.

You can add fresh parsley, hemp protein, spirulina, fresh chopped ginger, chia seeds, avocados, etc. Sweeten with stevia if you can tolerate it.

I just miss fruit. I hate blueberries but love sfrawberries and all others. Oranges and grapefruit too but I guess they're out.

Coconut milk is ok but man I miss my milk. I only drank skim but it still has.about 25 of sugar. Rats

The ONLY almond milk I'll drink is Blue Diamond. I like their "original" the others are too sweet.

I've tried other brands and I agree that if that's all there would be I wouldn't drink it. They're awful.

My favorite smoothie w/o any kind of milk:

I use all the fruit frozen except the pineapple.

1/2 banana
several strawberries
2 scoops blueberries
2 rings pineapple from the can
water

You can use strawberries.. but since you have candida, this won't work well!

I found a sugar free coconut milk at the health food store.

Cucumbers, Celery and Zucchini make a wonderful, cooling smoothie base. Add mint &/or a little lemon (or some ground corriander), and a tiny touch of stevia.

Fennel bulb might be very nice, too, that that might entail some experimentation. Mint & Fennel will make a nice duet.

Break off the tips of celery, backwards and pull of as much string as possible before cutting into chunks. Depending on the blender's powder, adust size of chucks to cut. Lower power blender, smaller chunks.

Lower power blenders may not be able to take the cucumber peel but, if it will, keep it on and let it get all groung up.

Add a bit of water at the beginning to take strain off of motor and get the juices going.

For those who "do" dairy, yogurt would be quite nice.

Higher power blenders can often make nut milk from SOFTER nuts like walnuts and pecans. Just rinse first and add enough water to get it going with a few nuts before adding more.

[Almonds would have to soak overnight and, even then, require high power blenders. Almonds can burn out lower power blenders, even after being soaked.]

Then you have a base of nut milk and you can add anything else. If just some nut milk, add a touch of stevia & vanilla extract. Nutmeg would be nice, too.

I've used walnuts and pecans with carrots, lots of zucchini and celery, tiny bit of ginger, etc. Makes it very nice, adding protein and fat. Very satsifying and delicious.

Works best with high powered blenders like VitaMix or BlendTec. Lower power blenders, cut smaller pieces and this may work. Or start with shredded carrots (a food processor is very nice for this).

CHIA SEEDS added to any smoothie will make it more nutritious and thicker (especially if stored in fridge to "gel").

Another nice treat: Soak about 2 TBS of Chia Seeds in a wide mouthed glass jar with about a cup of water. The next day, add a bit of coconut milk, vanilla and a bit of stevia and you have a pudding of sorts. Many variations on that theme are possible, too.

I forgot the celery. It really adds a nice flavor.
