I know this sounds terrible and selfish, but I don't care about these two horrible albeit uncommon diseases that got so much attention in the media, from congress, gov't funding, private donations. medical research etc...

It's as if they just SKIPPED OVER lyme and coinfections as a life destroyer AFTER it tortures the persons who have it and their loved ones.

Their are so many more lyme+ sufferers who are still suffering with no help or interest in curing it or easing our financial and life quality losses. My husband said, "You can't say that out loud" when I told him of my lack of concern........until I reminded him of my suffering, it's impact on him and our lives for so many years!

I actually thought of mimicking ebola symptoms when I had to be rushed to emergency but I was too sick to think or talk. I'll bet someone would have given me help, rather than treating me with NOTHING but still billed me thousands.....if it was ebola or zika, the media would have been there, someone would start a gofundme link to me and donations would be pouring in along with the world's prayers. I'd even have a private room with no bill at the end.

Instead, I got nothing but ignorance, apathy and being treated like a hypochondriac and ignored by nurses and doctors. The only folks who spoke to me or showed any care were the cleaners and orderlies. I had to beg to see a doc even after I was admitted for three days!

Sorry, rant over and I apologize for thinking I'm worth as much as these people who I don't know....

I know .. it's all ridiculous.

I think they are preparing the public for yet another vaccine.

How delightful.

I agree with you and it doesn't sound terrible or selfish at all. There are many, many more people with Lyme in this country so it makes no sense to ignore it ... and at the same time i's infuriating to watch all the hype and focus on something that's afflicted far fewer people so far. While I'm glad Zika is getting attention, the juxtaposition is jarring.
