To be honest this looks suspicious. The masks werent even properly sealing and the alarm already went off. What they most likely were measuring was the exhaled breath that obviously contains less oxygen.
From my own experience i can do perfect exercise with a mask on. My local MTB trail time that i use to gauge my performance only suffered about 5% when i started wearing a mask. I now always wear a mask actually because it helps with histamine from inhaling pollen (allergy season).
What would have been a better test is to measure blood oxygen saturation with and without the mask, preferably also with and without exercise. I think you would find very different results that way.

You were the one that said you and others in Asia wore masks due to dust and pollution. Did you pass out from lack of oxygen?
If you don't want to wear a mask you risk infecting others. I don't want that on my conscience were I to be asymptomatic.
I will protect myself and others with a mask.
