Walked almost 2 miles yesterday. Feeling great! The weather was gorgeous!! 62 and sunny.
Got to meet a distant cousin at church today. We ran into each other on a mutual friend's FB page.
She contacted me and said they were coming to our town and wanted travel tips.
So today, she and her husband came to our service and then we ate out together. Her husband is a Lutheran minister and Lisa and I share the same GGG grandfather who physically built and helped found a Lutheran church in Texas in the mid 1850's.
So .. a nap it is .. then a nice walk!!
AK .. sounds like you've been able to do a lot of exciting things while in Alaska!

AK—hope you enjoyed time with your Minnesota friend today.
Watched my church service online.
Did a load of laundry and put away my t-shirts and the rest of my warmer weather clothes. Tried on my jeans and most still don’t fit. May have to go shopping. Ugh!
Rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes.
Talked to my mom.
Read a bit.
Leftovers for dinner. Then maybe another movie.

Sunshine this morning, then cloudy with a few sprinkles late afternoon/evening.
Had a baptismal service at church this morning, then a carry-in lunch afterwards. Had a nice time chatting with everyone. Several visiting families were here today.
I took a cheesy potato casserole and a chocolate cake with peanutbutter frosting.
Got 18 eggs this evening. One of the guineas was back in the chicken pen. Created a dust storm in there till I managed to catch him!
Need to go out and shut the goat pen door. The other guineas hadn't come inside yet. They were still wandering up and down outside the chicken fence looking for a way to get in.
Daughter is writing a letter to grandpa. He was having some health challenges and one granddaughter put together a list for each grandchild to write a letter to grandpa. Each of grandpa's children is writing also.
I found it interesting, one son wrote a 1 page letter,on 1 side, the next one took 2 of my nice writing papers and came for the 3rd! Lined on both sides and full sheets of paper. I was impressed!
I had written 2 sheets and Hubby said he will call and talk instead of writing.
Fed my sourdough starter - getting it started again for over winter. I stopped using it over summer as I was too busy.

My bestie's hubby made breakfast of omelets and turkey sausage. While he worked outside getting a power pole ready to be hooked up for the airplane hangar and 2 bedroom apartment for her Dad we ran errands.
Visited with her Dad and went to Wal-Mart then home for visitors, 6 five week old puppies cuddle time and lunch.
Later I drove through rainy weather to Chugiak and had dinner with my Minnesota friend, her stepson and his friends and about 5 chi!dren. He made roast beef, oven roasted potatoes and broccoli and we had brownies and homemade red devils food cake.
I had so much fun and stayed to late and got back to my besties around 11:00.
Manna letter writing is a lost art! Elderly folks sure do treasure them though. Your casserole and cake sound heavenly!
Hiker cooler already? I bet it's still hot in Georgia. It's funky warmer rainy weather here. I'll take it though so I don't have to drive on ice.
TuTu 2 miles is great! Glad you had a great Sunday with family.
Wanted to mentioned the lady I cared for last year, Mrs. H passed away yesterday. She had dementia and got sick last week and passed. Believe she was only 85. Called and spoke with two of her daughters and left a message for the youngest one. I've known them since the 70's and she was such a sweet lady.
Well friends I'm going to read and hit the hay!

AK—sorry to hear about Mrs. H. Glad you had the opportunity to care for her. You sound like you are still having a great vacation.
Did my knee, feet, and shoulder exercises.
Rode the exercise bike for 27 minutes.
Went and bought my silymarin from the chiropractor I usually get it from. He says he only keeps one bottle on hand as I am the only one he knows who uses it.
Talked to mom.
Then talked to my BFF for quite a while.
Doctor’s office messaged and I had to reschedule my appointment with a new GP for the third time since July. Not happy about that. Now it is pushed to midNovember.
Worked on Bible study for a long time.
Finished my book about Chicago court system.
Starting to think about dinner. Then need to get trash to curb and recycling out.
Have a good evening!

Baking day.
Got a few loads of laundry done. All in the dryer. Still damp and cloudy today.
Got 19 eggs tonight.
I need to get the boys to make a nice smooth, level path to walk on around the outside of the barn. In the dewy grass, I slipped and went down partway. Caught myself before hitting the ground and didn't spill either scoop of feed I was carrying!
Made honey mustard chicken for supper, along with frenched green beans and sliced tomatoes in 4 colors. Red, yellow, orange and green.
Hubby sawed up a maple log into boards this afternoon. He was very pleased with the nice grain of the wood. Said it sawed much nicer than the red oak he did last.
A friend has a cherry tree he wants to bring over to get cut into boards to use as the interior of his garage.

This morning I went to Lazy Mountain trailhead in Palmer AK to spread flowers I bought along the beginning of the trail. I did this in memory of an older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Williams whose ashes are spread there. They took me under their wings when I moved up here and we spent much time together working on one of the churches, watching TV, eating dinners and I spent a couple Thanksgivings with them too.
Later it was girl day with me, my bestie and her oldest granddaughter. We shopped and ate lunch out then went to visit my bestie's Dad.
Me and my bestie watched 2 back to back Hallmark chick flicks and relaxed over the evening.
Manna glad you didn't fall. I almost slipped on the muddy trail today but am so glad I didn't. I love the smell of cut wood, I don't know why and enjoy the different grains.
Hiker were you supposed to go to your GP in July? Good grief they're pushing it way out!
FYI...it might snow tomorrow... I'm not ready! The car I've borrowed is a Chevy Cobalt with those super thin tires. I hope I'll be safe.
Night friends!

I am tuckered out and it isn’t even dinner time, yet.
Did my balance exercises this morning.
Went to Farm and Fleet to try on jeans. Nothing fit, so just bought 25 pounds of bird seed.
Stopped at the hospital thrift shop and found two identical pairs of jeans that actually fit in the waist and hips, and I don’t have to hem them! Thick denim for cold weather, too. Bought both pairs for $10. Clothes shopping really tires me, out, though.
Put away the furniture on my deck. Glad the metal chairs and table fold up for easy storage in the garage. Kept one chair and table on the cement patio in hopes of warmer weather still. Wishful thinking I am sure.
Was gorgeous today, though. Sunny and 62 with little wind. Supposed to rain the next 3 days.
Rode the exercise bike for 20 minutes. I may need to ease up on the bike riding because my knee is killing me especially walking up the stairs and I have a lot of stairs.
Worked on Bible study for an hour.
Went to the public library and got two books on hold.
Had a chiropractic session and am now relaxing and drinking lots of water.
Chicken for dinner with spinach salad, yellow squash and strawberries.
See you tomorrow.

Lovely sunny day.
Picked tomatoes.
Dug a bucket full of sweet potatoes.
Cut some swiss chard.
Gathered up 27 pumpkins. Think we will have all the pumpkin pie we can eat!!
Spread sawdust around 2 of the blueberry bushes.
This evening I'm baking whoopie pies. Waiting on the last 2 pans in the oven.
Then I must go feed the goats and pen them up. Fed the chickens and gathered the eggs before supper.
Daughter made a cheesy ham & pasta casserole tonight. Homemade bread and pear honey. Dessert was chocolate cake.

Hurt my shoulder last night by stepping on the dog bed and catching myself on the door with splayed out hand and of course with my bad arm. So not only my shoulder is hurting but my shoulder blade too. Just took four 200 mg Ibuprofen.
Today we visited my AK bestie's Dad and got a coffee. Stopped at the post office where I asked how to send moose antlers home and was told I need to make my own box.
Wish me luck on that project!
Picked up my other friend at 4:00 from the airport and took her to the cellphone company to fix her phone then out to eat. We had breakfast for dinner!
Then I took her to check into the Alaska Native housing on their huge medical complex. Took over an hour! She's having labs and a Cat scan tomorrow and her sister will take her for those.
Thursday I'm taking her to the oncologist and praying for good news.
Manna my favorite pie is pumpkin! I don't know why I only eat it during Thanksgiving. I gathered 5 eggs today and my friend picked most of the kale for juicing. Your dinner sounds delicious!
Hiker glad you found perfect fitting jeans at the thrift store! I love to go thrifting! I call it treasure hunting. LOL! Take it easy on that knee. Your dinner sounds delicious too! I think I've gained weight since I got here because I'm way overeating!
Guys it snowed today but thank God it didn't stick to the ground! Praying it won't snow on Thursday.
Night my friends!

Manna—that casserole sounds good! I should try it with rice pasta.
AK—Tossing the flower petals was a fitting gesture to your old friends. Sure hope your shoulder feels less painful today. Ice it.
Went grocery shopping. Then went back to grocery store after I realized all my digital coupons didn’t ring up. Saved $12. Manager told me to reinstall the app, which I did but then lost all my reward points. After you rack up reward points you get money off your bill. Oh well.
Did my knee, feet, and shoulder exercises. Skipped riding the bike.
I did start out on a short walk but then it started to rain and I didn’t want to get chilled without a rain jacket so the walk was short lived.
Went to the eye center and picked up my glasses that I had made for just seeing distance. Struggled to walk to the car in them. I keep looking down at the ground and that throws me off.
I only wanted them to go walking or for yardwork as I wear progressive lenses inside. I have never been able to wear the progressive lenses when I walk outside or up and down stairs.
Mom’s audiologist called with a possible new hearing aid. But once I found it you need a special remote to adjust it I knew mom wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Called mom and chatted.
Then the physical therapy clinic at the retirement center called to say mom refuses to stay for her full session of therapy three times a week.
So, called mom back and said if an hour was too much she could go 5 times a week for 30 minutes but she was paying for the time she skips. She doesn’t want to go 5 times a week, so hopefully Friday she will stay after physical therapy for her occupational therapy session. Stubborn!
Am sitting in the recliner now icing my knee and contemplating dinner. Maybe if I think about it long enough it will cook itself.
Have a great evening!

Hiker a self cooking dinner is an excellent idea!
Took bestie's Dad to his gastro appointment and labs. We had pizza with him for lunch at his apartment.
Stayed home the rest of the day and watched the snow and another Hallmark movie.
In bed by 6:30 and relaxing.
Shoulder feels better since I'm taking about 800 mg of Ibuprofen.
Tomorrow I'm taking my friend to her oncologist appointment and praying for good news.
Time to delve back into my thriller/mystery book!
Good night friends!

Praying for good news for your friend, AK!!
hiker .. your mom is testing your mental strength!
Counting my blessings over here. Extended family members are caught in Israel and having trouble getting out. Praying they can get to the one open border they heard about.
My teacher friend from San Antonio came to see me yesterday . They WERE going to go to Israel, but their flight was canceled just in time. So they are HERE instead!
I had not seen her in 20 years, so we had a great visit yesterday. Hoping to go to a local "honky tonk" .. hahaha...tomorrow. My favorite band will be playing. (they own the place)
The past two days I've walked about 2.5 miles. I haven't lost any weight, but my legs are in good shape. lol.
I'm off to call a friend....
OH >.. and MY ASTROS WON their division! ON to a Texas stand-off this Sunday!~~

Praying for your extended family TuTu!
Hiker we're talking about the horrors in Israel up here too! So heartbreaking! We can only pray!
Ran errands with my bestie and made creamed chicken and canned biscuits for lunch.
Drove my friend to her oncology appointment. While in the waiting room she told me that her catscan revealed 10 lesions on her liver. I knew immediately what that meant. She's also been having back pain.
Her oncologist is a wonderful Christian man. He explained to her that her colon cancer has spread to her liver and he thinks her spine.
Since she isn't able to tolerate chemo they are only able to make her as pain free as possible. She has maybe 6 months or longer.
Me, my friend and her doctor cried in the office.
I knew there was a reason I was meant to stay five weeks.
Also waiting on news for my bestie's biopsies.
It's been a rough day and am going to sleep in tomorrow.
Night my friends!

AK—sorry about your friend’s prognosis. I bet she is thankful you were there for the news.
It has been raining all day here so I have had an “indoor” day.
Did my knee, feet and shoulder exercises.
Called mom to remind her not to just leave physical therapy when she wanted to. They would tell her when it was time to go. She didn’t remember we had this conversation on Wednesday. 😢
Made a meatloaf and froze it.
Worked over an hour on Bible study.
Was supposed to have my orientation with GLA this afternoon but it got pushed to Tuesday.
So, I watched the movie “O God” with George Burns and John Denver.
Was cleaning out my freezer and saw I had some cocktail shrimp. So, will have a tossed salad, strawberries, shrimp, nuts and a little bit of chocolate for dinner.
Then maybe another movie and, of course, reading.
Hope you have had a great Friday! 😀
Also, don’t forget about the solar eclipse tomorrow if you are in an area to see it and it isn’t cloudy. Supposed to be cloudy here and I am disappointed.
AK —you can see it from Alaska between 8:40AM and 9:30. Partial eclipse.
Tutu—you can see it between 10:30 and 1:30. Partial at about 60%.
Manna—you can see it between noon and 2:30. Partial.
Bonnie-you can see it between noon and 2:30. Partial.
See my post in general support about the eclipse if interested. Yes, I am a science nerd!

Oh AK, I'm so sorry to hear this ... but so thankful that you are there for her.
Hiker ..thanks for info .. I was out but never noticed a thing.
My family members are IN JORDAN and hoping to fly out tonight. Praise God above!!
We are going out tonight with our friends from San Antonio. Met with my teacher friend on Wed. for lunch. I had to miss Bible study.
It's going to be fun tonight because we have a new place with dinner and country music and dancing if you want to dance.
I LOVE the band. They are my favorite local group. Awesome band and awesome people. This place has only been open about 3 weeks.
PS .. We had 5 deer grazing below our balcony yesterday evening. So nice to see them there!!

Another sunny breezy day. Washed table cloths and bedding and hung it out on the lines.
Sliced and blanched potatoes, filled the food dryer with potatoes. Also shredded some to freeze. The potato crop was not so good this year and they aren't keeping. Starting to rot, so I'm going to put them away, one way or another! I did try canning some years ago, but we don't care for the flavor of them.
Want to can some pumpkin. Picked almost 30 pumpkins and there were a few more out there that aren't quite ready yet. We shall have all the pumpkin pie we can eat!
Hubby mowed the grass today, hopefully for the last time this season.
Hiker, Thanks for letting us know when we can see the eclipse. I checked the weather and we are to have rain showers all day tomorrow, so we most likely won't get to see anything of it.
AK, so nice you could be there to support your friend.
Tutu, very glad to hear your family members reached Jordan safely.
Two of the boys need to work tomorrow as some of the others had a wedding to go to.
The boys want to invite a couple of the boys from church over for lunch on Sunday. What could we cook in the crockpot that is simple and delicious?

Hi guys! Slept in so was solo this morning so took a shower and got ready for the day.
Had leftover pancakes then dumped trash, got one egg from the henhouse and gave the chickens some kale leaves. Let the dogs out too. Did the dishes then out the door for errands.
Met my bestie at one of her son's house since she was babysitting their daughter and had the 2 boys whom she's homeschooling. Ate lunch then chased the children around the yard.
Later went with my bestie and her hubs to the radiation oncologist. He was Mennonite and super kind. She's in great hands and I don't have to worry too much about her. Her treatment will be 5 days a week for 4 weeks. Treatments are about 15 minutes each.
No cancer was found in her lymph nodes! Thank you God!

AK—glad to hear your friend has no cancer in the lymph nodes.
Manna—I second AK’s suggestion of chili. Maybe because it is cool, windy and a bit rainy here. No eclipse watching today.
I did a load of laundry.
Did my balance exercises.
Watched my weekly Beth Moore video.
Did a lot of paperwork at my desk this afternoon while sipping coffee (decaf).
Am currently watching the Illini-Maryland football game.
Meatloaf for dinner. Then will read.

Rainy day here. Didn't see anything of the eclipse.
Did a few loads of wash.
Cleaned the living room. Moved a small table away from the window and set a bench there instead. Now there's more room for plants that must soon come in.
Had to do another nightly chase to catch the guinea who thinks its a chicken and keeps going over the fence to join them.
Got 15 eggs tonight.
Made a blueberry dessert and a lemon pineapple tapioca dessert.
Decided to make a vegetable soup in the crockpot and use sausage instead of ground beef.
Will mix up a batch of butterhorn rolls to go with it.
The boys worked late tonight and then went out for supper.
We had scrapple and eggs-in-a-nest for supper.

Spent the Sabbath with AK bestie and her hubs (who preached today) and a friend of mine joined us. Service was so down to earth and a couple of guys gave their testimonies. Stories of drugs, alcohol, crime and God's saving grace.
We had potluck and had a wonderful time.
Afterwards I spent the rest of the day with my friend and his 95 YO father. We chatted away and we picked up Subway sandwiches and ate there at home with his Dad.
Afterwards he brought me to my bestie's and we all sat around and chatted some more.
Oh, I did ride around on the back of his street legal dirt bike which I enjoyed but it was a bit cold for me.
So had a wonderful day!
Manna that's it I'm coming for dinner! I'm a soupaholic and I can't imagine how good it must have been with homemade rolls!
Hiker I might have to make some chili when I get home. My Mom wasn't a fan so haven't made any since 2015! Way over due for chili goodness!
It's late and I have to get up early so will read a bit. Night friends!
