I saw Dr. H in Mass. today. I told her that it was my 50th birthday, wryly commenting on my acitivity for the day was visiting her. She said, that the good news is that my 50th year will be much better than my 49th, and *we* will work together to make it so.
Fortunately my face going numb yesterday was a reaction to the sun while taking doxycycline, not the sure sign that the borreliosis are eating the cranial nerves, which it is probably doing, just not that nerve, in that way. So, OK no more sun for me for now.
I also found out that the b12 shots I was giving myself were 1/10th the intended dose. So I gave myself a full shot today, and maybe my brain will be a bit more functional for a bit longer!
And, um, lessee, the doctor reassurred me that I do have lyme -- I get a bit confused and doubtful by the politicalized nature of this bug, and the naysayers, and the numerous doctors who have missed, dismissed and denied it, oh yea, and just simply not told me about my positive lab results. I know I'm "lucky" to have a CDC positive IGM, but having an expert look at it and me and say "You don't have Lyme." seriously messed with me. I know many are sick who don't have a positive test.
The only thing we disagreed on was my desire to exercise 15-30 minutes every other day. She says it's bad for me in my present state. I feel like it's a sanity measure. We agreed that I would keep an eye on how I react and if I feel sick from it, to reduce that activity.
However she agrees on my sleeping as much and as often as I want! SO the nap-a-thon will continue.
She gave me some homeopathic detox stuff.
Magnesium == which she says might get me off the sleep meds, and maybe even the cardiac meds given time.
And electrolytes to take when I sauna.
Six more weeks of doxycycline and then on to a "cyst buster" and a different antibiotic.
I don't know why I feel like posting this here. I guess I'm just happy to have a doctor who is *helping* me and giving me hope.
And now my hubby is going to take me out to dinner

Karen,
Congratulations on finding a doctor that seems knowledgeable and compassionate.
I walk every day - somedays it has to be very slowly. But it's my sanity time, too, like you said. I can't do the aerobic stuff at all at the moment.
Maybe you and she could just agree upon having you walk, and that way, you can adjust the speed and intensity, but still get outside and have a break.
Take care, Jill

Having a knowledgable Dr who helps you thru this maze is so important. It's a far cry from the kind of Dr we've all seen that sends you packing.

Happy birthday and I'm sure 50 will be the magic number, too. I'm just a few weeks ahead of you.
It sounds like you've got a keeper doc, yay!
...and the nap-a-thon continues!

Nap-a-thon! what a great idea. Maybe that's how we can raise money for treatment-by getting sponsors for our own personal nap-a-thon!Why didn't I think of that?
Karen-glad you found off topic-it's where the real party is! Carol
