Hello,

I was talking with a friend of mine today and she asked how i was doing because she knows i have been sick and had 4 surgeries last year. I told her i was still having problems with low grade fevers (among many other things) and i mentioned that i tested borderline lyme disease last october and felt i needed to look into it.

I explained to her that the doctor didnt seem interested in the results of the test because i only had 3 bands IGG and the CDC needs 5. I did however test positive on the EIA test. I left his office being told that i had fibromyalgia.

So i told her i seriously think i have lyme disease. Do you know what she said to me? She said you need to get a job and get your mind off of how you feel and that you may be surprised how much better you might be.

At that point i decided that this was a lost cause and just dropped it. Shes right, maybe my fevers will just go away if i get a job. I mean i have only been having them for a YEAR!

I just had to share. It cracked me up and i knew you guys would get it.

Im so happy i found this board!

Jordan

When all my symptoms started, my father told me that all I needed to do was start the Atkins diet, drink water, get a job and exercise.

Then I would be perfectly fine and my symptoms would go away.

He said I had anxiety problems also.

Seriously.

I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or get pissed.

Yeah most of us "get it" or have gotten it in one form or another. I'll try and bump up the "alligator pit" read through it and you will see just what I mean.

Here is the link Aligator Pit

(said in an extremely sarcastic tone) C'mon Jordan! Whattsa matter with you? Can't you suck it up???? What's a little fever for over a year? What's a few surgeries??? A job is exactly what you need LOL!!!! Add some more stress to your life, and just watch those symtpoms go to town!

Pathetic what people think, isn't it??? Think I'd cross this 'friend' off the friend list. Unfortunately, illness is a great 'sorter' - you really learn who your friends are and who will stick by you.

You are right - there is humor in the absurd. I lost my job last year (yea, decided to wake up one day and quit a job that I had for 20 years, and stay home and dwell on my lyme disease). I was recently rejected for disability and told I could perform 'simple tasks'. Guess stuffing pickled eggs into a jar will take my mind off lyme.....hey maybe you and I could go into business together !!!!!!!

Jordan, when I first got sick, I was bedridden for months. My duck told me that all I needed was to hop on a plane as a few weeks in Bal Harbor, the beach, and a few nights on Collins would cure my "simple depression." When I was too Lyme fogged out to drive to her office, she realized that this malaise might not be so simple.

OMGosh....earth shattering news!!!!

And to think, I was prepared to spend the next several years on antibiotics and alternative therapies when the cure to this disease was uncovered by a person without any medical background!!!

Dr C will be excited as he wants all of his patients to fire him.

Now lets see....does anyone know of any job opportunities that I can work for 15 minutes rest for thirty and just cycle that routine???

And I will have to be excused from coming in before lunch, and will have to be off by at least three to take a my afternoon rest. Even at family reunions or trying to shop, I can't seem to get my mind off a nap long enough to enjoy the activity.....

Oh and any employer willing to hire a 15, 13, 9 and 8 year old??? Of course they are in school now, but if getting a job means they will be well, heck, I say give it a try!
After all school doesn't seem to be taking their minds off the symptoms.

We could use the extra income anyway. Guess I'll need to start a campaign to fight child labor laws rather than trying to educate the school system though. Darn, all that research on 504 and IDEA for nothing.

All this excitement has made me tired, have to go rest then I will look for a job....

Well,

I'm saddened to say that I must be leaving lymenet. See, I work... and since I'm not cured

I DONT HAVE LYME DISEASE. I gave it my all, and really thought this was the problem. I guess I should throw those abx away that got me BACK to work to begin with.

Wait... it's absolutely clear now...
Im addicted to antibiotics. Geesh. I will grumble and stumble away and contact the local NA agency now.

Nah no seriously, tell you friend I owe her a big ol slap right in the head.

You guys are great!

Loved your letters. I got some info from the LLMD yesterday. She has a consultation fee of $500. That seems high but i guess you do what ya gotta do. Hopefully, my insurance will cover some of that.

Lymelighter: I went to Bal Harbour last week to do a little shopping. I started to feel crappy so i had to go home. Thanks to lyme i bet.

WildCondor: I went to your site. I cant believe you actually went through all of that. You are a VERY strong person.

cootiegirl: You had me in tears (good ones)

SentByHim: i couldnt find that aligator post :-(

Thanks everyone,

Jordan
