I just finished treatment for late stage lyme (specifically neuro lyme). I had developed a new spinal lesion that was caused by over use of IV antibiotics causing inflamation after being on IV Rocephin for 10 weeks. (Yes, you can be on IV antibiotics too long)
Any way, the treatment seemed to do its job of killing the lyme(in addition to some collateral damage). I have been off for a month now and my energy has returned - no headache, less pain etc. Neuro symptoms still there but that is because I have permanent damage from CNS lyme to my spinal chord mylein (the sheath that protects nerves).
However, I have developed a new rash in the crook of my elbow. (I had an obvious, typical bullseye rash on my back in 1967 when I was a child. Never treated for lyme, went dormant, came back disguised as MS 35 years later, -long story)
Anyway, this new rash does not itch or burn. It is bright red. I weeded all day this past weekend. I am not allergic to poison ivy or poison oak and know what these look like. None of the weeds i pullled up were poison oak or ivy. I am also not allergic to either of those.
I also sprayed myself with bug reppellant and wore long gloves.
It has not formed a bulls eye. Instead it is in the shape of a half moon. The center of the half moon is light but it is also half moon but smaller. In other words it is open, not an enclosed circle.
I am getting tested- western blot and elisa just to be sure I have not been bitten once again, but I was curious if lyme rashes can look like this.
I would hate to think I'm just going to be bitten over and over again because I spend the warmer weather in my garden and love being there.

Thank you. I looked. did not see anything resembling half a donut. However, I'm getting tested just to be safe.
